We are excited to see our Dalton Dragons tonight!

🏫Hello Dalton Dragons! We look forward to seeing you all at our Open House, Wednesday, September 2nd, from 4:30 to 5:30 PM.

🕑In order to alleviate congestion, we gently suggest last names A-L drop by from 4:30-5:00 and last names M-Z from 5:00-5:30.

📃Classroom lists will be posted outside in 3 places: by the office entrance, on the gym doors, and at the bus loop playground entrance right at 4:30 PM. Those respective doors will also open at 4:30.

🎒Our Open House gives students a chance to find their classrooms, meet their teachers, drop off school supplies, have a cookie and lemonade in the cafeteria, and tour the building!

🎒 PSA for All Soon-to-Be Kindergarten Parents! 🍎

Kindergarten lunch is a BIG adjustment for little ones—and a little practice at home can make a HUGE difference! 💜

Before school starts, try practicing “school lunch” with your kiddo:

🍎 Practice opening everything! Make sure they can independently open their lunchbox, containers, wrappers, snack bags, milk, etc. If they can’t open it at home, they may not be able to open it at school!

🥪 Talk about where food goes. Practice eating from their lunch and remind them that food belongs in their lunch—not on the table! 😉

⏰ Set a 15-minute timer. Talk about how lunch may feel short and that they might not finish everything. That’s okay! The goal is to eat what they can and keep moving.

🗑️ Practice packing up. When lunch is over, practice deciding what is trash and what needs to go back into the lunchbox. Bonus points for practicing putting everything away independently!

🎒 Make it a routine! The more familiar the process feels, the more confident your child will be when they walk into the lunchroom.

A little practice now can mean less stress, more independence, and a much smoother kindergarten lunch experience! 💜

You’ve got this, kindergarten parents! And remember… kindergarteners are learning EVERYTHING—including how to eat lunch at school! 🥰

It is our pleasure to officially welcome Miss Sarah Wilkey to Dalton Elementary. She will be teaching third grade this year, and we are delighted to have her join our Dalton family after a year of student teaching last fall and spring.

Sarah was born and raised here in Coeur d’Alene, and Dalton Elementary has always held a special place in her heart because . . . she attended Dalton herself! She said, "Teaching runs in my family; both my mom and grandma were educators who inspired my love and joy for teaching." After playing volleyball in college in Colorado, she realized her heart belonged back home, where she could teach in the community that shaped her. She enjoys gardening, cooking, and staying active. After completing her student teaching at Dalton last year, she shared, "It truly felt like home. It’s an absolute dream come true to begin my teaching journey here!"

Please join me in giving Sarah a warm Dalton welcome.

If you are someone who genuinely enjoys working with kids, has a big heart, and wants to make a difference in the lives of elementary students, we’d love to have you consider joining our Dalton Family! 🐉

We have opportunities for people who would enjoy:

❤️ Working in our Learning Lab, supporting students with special needs in reading, writing, math, and behavior.

📚 Working with students in small groups, helping kids build their skills in reading, writing, and/or math.

☀️ Supervising recess and lunchtime and helping keep our students safe, happy, and connected during some of the most important parts of their school day.

You don’t have to have all the answers. You just need to be kind, dependable, patient, flexible, and willing to learn. We can teach you the rest!

Spring is in the air, and that means the 2026 Dalton Elementary Spring Social is just around the corner! On May 15, we are so excited to welcome you, your family and friends. 🌞🍧 This year's event features an upscale BBQ themed dinner, mini cupcakes, bouncies for the kids, a family-friendly DJ, temporary tattoos, lawn games and new this year - a petting zoo! All this is included with your admission ticket. The Kona Ice food truck will also be there, featuring their delicious, shaved ice and new smoothies for an additional, nominal charge. And of course, the ever-popular raffle baskets, silent and live auctions are back...a sneak peak of all items are available when you register on the website!
