Social media can drive anyone crazy when it comes to . The pressure placed on both men and women is just insane. Even though we know many photos are edited & many people have undergone plastic surgery, we still can’t help but compare ourselves & buy into the belief that we have to look similarly in order to _____ (fill in the blank). Here’s the thing…I vote we stop.

Stopping ain’t easy though. People LIVE on social media. Consumption is higher today than ever due to Covid19 stay-at-home efforts. & we aren’t just exposed on social media. Shows like, , , , , even ! They all have at segments (if not the entire show) where they glorify unrealistic bodies.

I hear all the time in sessions, “But Myia, you know it’s the culture…how am I supposed to get away from ALL culture?” I often pitch back…”WE make up the culture. Which means WE can change it. Normalize realistic bodies every chance you get. companies that promote anything short of diversity & body positivity—seriously! Tweet, email, post comments…let companies know you aren’t going to support their brand if they continue down the same road.

Here’s the thing…this means YOU and I have a responsibility to stop watching the Kardashians, stop “😍👏🏻🙌🏿💃🏻” on all these photos promoting goals.

Now if you catch me doing it…(I said stopping ain’t easy!), show me a little grace. 😝💛

Some reflection for those of you who have a friend, family member, or are dating someone who is always “ghosting” you. Things may not be what they seem. ⁣

Oh how I miss this place. I took what I thought would be a quick medical leave last year in April. A year later, a new health battle, covid19 has forced its way into the daily lives of us all. I miss my office not because of the space, but b/c it symbolizes health, fervent work ethic, human restoration, hope...and more. I’m learning though, none of us need a physical symbol for these things; we need only to act safely, to act diligently, to act lovingly, to act with effort, to hope. Let’s all knock this out of the park. 🏌🏽‍♀️

This is one system that can be used to manage time and tasks. Choosing a system is super personal. If you don’t have one, try a couple over the next month. If you have trouble getting started, record your current system for a week and get a baseline. ••• Parents, when choosing for kids, consider their developmental stage, their strengths and weaknesses, their personal circadian rhythm, motivation and rewards, etc. Now is the time to start practicing, testing, selecting, implementing a system...BEFORE school resumes in a few weeks.
