OCCA Announces:
Dallas Cinco de Mayo Fiestas on W. Jefferson Blvd.
Annual Parade Canceled Until 2027.

March 11, 2026 - Dallas, Texas. The Oak Cliff Coalition for the Arts (OCCA) announces plans for the 2026 Dallas Cinco de Mayo. This year’s parade is canceled until 2027 due to lack of funds and a deficit from 2025. OCCA plans to present the annual street festival at W. Jefferson Blvd. The Dallas Cinco de Mayo Fiestas will be held on May 3, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., on the 500 and 600 blocks of W. Jefferson Blvd. The program will include deejays, performances, food trucks, arts and craft booths, and food, drink, and contests, including Best Decorated Business, Best Dressed Mexican and Best Decorated Vehicle. It will be family-friendly with free admission.

OCCA Founder Sylvana Alonzo expressed dismay and said that it was difficult to cancel the parade since it has been a tradition in Dallas for over forty years. “The parade brings so much joy to the community and especially to the thousands of participants that showcase their pride and Mexican American heritage.” she added.

Alonzo also said that the two hundred storefronts and anchor stores located on the mile-long parade route will also feel its absence. “There was only one other time that the parade was canceled and that was due to the covid 19 pandemic. We are celebrating big and moving forward with a fantastic festival. The show must go on,” said Alonzo.

In the spirit of Cinco de Mayo, West Jefferson Boulevard business owner and founder of the Cinco de Mayo parade, LA Ramos, expressed optimism and said that all is not lost. “We are staying positive as we roll with the punches. We will celebrate with gusto and continue the tradition of celebrating our heritage,” he said.
