We have had a busy few months! In September, we enjoyed doing speech & language screenings in Fort Worth & celebrating Ms. Lauren's birthday! In October, we got to meet Ms. Chelsea's beautiful baby girl! In November, Rigsby greeted our students in his winter wardrobe! In December, we loved showering Ms. Lauren and her baby girl with love!

Wishing all of our students and families a Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year! We are so grateful for all of you!

Meet the newest members of our staff! We absolutely love having Chelsea & Melissa as part of our team!

Chelsea: I received my Bachelor’s from Saint Edward’s University in Austin in 2011. I then joined Teach for America and taught special education at KIPP Public Charter School in Charlotte, North Carolina for two years. It was during my teaching experience that I realized I wanted to make a different impact through communication with the students I served. I went back to school to earn my Master’s of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of North Texas. The last 5 1/2 years have been spent practicing speech therapy serving toddlers, school-aged children and adults in a number of settings: hospitals, home health, private practice and schools. I specialize in serving individuals with receptive/expressive language, apraxia, social skills, autism spectrum disorder, swallowing disorders (certified in effective swallow protocol, AmpCare), neurocognitive disorders, language skills, voice, fluency and trained in Association Method for reading.

Melissa: Hello, My name is Melissa Powell. I am from Birmingham, Alabama. I attended the University of Alabama for both my bachelors degree in Communicative Disorders and Child Development and for my Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology. I completed my clinical fellowship at Lakewood Elementary in Dallas, Texas in 2016 and continued to work as the Speech-Language Pathologist on that campus for 5 additional years. I have always loved working with children and walking alongside them as they reach their communication potential. In my spare time, I enjoy working in the special needs ministry at Highland Park United Methodist Church. I believe that building relationships and connecting with peers is a crucial part of a child's development and as speech therapists we play an integral role in making that happen for all students. I am looking forward to working with the wonderful team at Shelton and meeting all of you!
