While we'll always remember Dolly for her music and phenomenal performances, we'll also remember her for all the work she has done to inspire a love of reading in children through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

Today, the City Manager released the proposed FY2027 budget. It confirms a proposed $3.3 million cut to the Dallas Public Library. This is not an isolated hit. It’s the continuation of years of cuts that have steadily diminished what our libraries can offer Dallas residents.

Libraries are where kids learn to read, job seekers build new skills, entrepreneurs launch businesses, and seniors find connection. This is the moment to speak up.

Meet our second Robert L. Solender Award recipient this year: the Skillman Southwestern Branch Library Friends! 🏆📚

When the beloved Skillman Southwestern Branch closed its doors, this incredible group didn't just move on...they showed up. They've since joined other branch Friends groups across the system, sharing their experience and mentoring new groups as they form.

And that's not all. This group gifted $25,000 to start the Skillman Southwestern Branch Friends Fund, which will allow branches and Friends groups system-wide to apply for grants covering small or unexpected expenses.

That's the spirit Robert Solender's legacy is all about — support for libraries, public service, and lifelong learning. Congratulations, and thank you! 👏
