Could rural America lose its pathway to college?

COE is warning that the Department of Education's proposed TRIO grant competitions could dramatically reduce college-access services in rural communities this fall.

According to new modeling, if states receive large statewide awards and concentrate services in urban areas, rural communities could experience reductions in funding and services of up to 90 percent.

For countless students, TRIO is the only place to receive help applying to college, completing the FAFSA, visiting campuses, and preparing for a brighter future. Every student deserves the opportunity to pursue higher education—regardless of where they live.
