The Story of Ruth....September 29, 1934- April 14, 2023 04/15/2025

Ruth Wells Wyrick remains the only three-time Alumnus of the Year award winner in SwCC alumni history. Not only was she the top alumna fundraiser for the college, she also served on the Board of Trustees.

Two years ago today, her voice fell silent. Her commitment to her alma mater came second only to her love for the Lord and her family.

During the last year of the Forever Southwestern administration of the SwCC National Alumni Association, we awarded Harold and Willie Eva Burnett with Lifetime Membership for their extraordinary service.

Where assisting their local Dallas Chapter with fundraising events or singing in the alumni chorus or just being present at every alumni weekend, the Burnetts were faithful alumni.

We mourn the passing of Harold Burnett ‘70 and express our appreciation for his commitment to the alumni association

This page was originally published in 2010 during the presidency of Shay Wyrick Cathey (2004-2014). The theme of that administration was “Forever Southwestern.”

This page is not the official page of the national association or the Dallas chapter. Please follow those pages for current information.

Feel free to visit page for a look back at times long past. We may share memories occasionally ☺️

Today we bid farewell to the President of the Dallas Alumni Chapter, Bro. Willie Tucker, who led our chapter at the heights of the Association. He was proud of our perennial “Chapter of the Year” status. He also served as Treasurer of the National Alumni Association for 30 years. He was in the inaugural class of the SwCC Alumni Hall of Fame and supported the Leadership faithfully.

His funeral services will be live streamed this morning at 11:00 am. CST by his home congregation Central Pointe Church of Christ.

Rest well, Willie Tucker. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to our alma mater.
