Texas law allows for LTC holders to leave the secured area of the airport if they accidentally carry their handgun into them. We have a responsibility to keep track of our sidearms, but if one forgets, the license will save you from a felony. This is a excellent reason to have your Texas carry license.

Constitutional Carry (HB 1927) has made it out of its senate committee last night. It will be coming up for a vote on the senate floor very soon. It is imporrant that you contact your Texas State Senator and let them know that you support this bill and that your expect them to vote yes on the issue. Gun Owners of America, Open Carry Texas, Texas Carry, the Texas State Rifle Association and others were on point last nigh and rallied a huge turn out at the capitol to provide testimony in favor of this bill. Over 300 Texans showed up for and against it and we were all able to often times find some common ground on the subject. That said I am in favor of seeing this come to pass. Constitutional Carry will only make the current carry license (LTC) optional. You won't need a license to carry in Texas, but if you travel to another state that does not have Constitutional Carry but that state recognizes the Texas LTC, you will need the Texas license to legally carry there. The Texas LTC also helps when you purchase a firearm because by showing your LTC takes the place of the dealer having to run a federal background check and possibly encountering a delay. I will continue to teach LTC classes as well as other fi****ms training and I am very glad to see this bill becoming law. Several times I have been approached by people in domestic crisises or after being the victim of a robbery or attack. These folks were often wanting to get some form of protection as soon as possible. Even though Texas has streamlined the process and made it very inexpensive, it still takes time that some do not have. Once this bill becomes law, a r**e or domestic violonce survivor can immediately arm themself and seek training while they are going through the process of getting their carry license and learning to shoot.

All that said, again please contact your Texas State Senators as soon as possible and encourage them to vote yes on House Bill 1927.
