What a special day for our Occupational Therapy family. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

This weekend, we celebrated the achievements of our Occupational Therapy graduates during the OT Capstone Conclave Ceremony, recognizing award winners and honoring the dedication, resilience, and compassion that defined their journey at Misericordia University.

After the ceremony, graduates presented their capstone projects, giving family, friends, faculty, and peers the opportunity to see the innovative ideas and meaningful work they've spent months developing.

It's a celebration of much more than researchโ€”it's a celebration of growth, perseverance, and a commitment to helping others live fuller, more independent lives.

Congratulations to each of our graduates. We are incredibly proud of all you've accomplished and can't wait to see the difference you'll make in the world. ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŽ‰

Did you know that speech-language pathologists play a critical role in helping to build the foundational skills necessary for strong literacy skills? Reading, writing, and spelling are language-based, and strong language skills are needed for strong literacy skills.

Misericordia University's free Kindergarten Readiness Program recently concluded its second successful summer, helping 12 young learners strengthen the foundational language and literacy skills they'll need to prepare for kindergarten. The program was led by Kathleen Scaler Scott, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, along with graduate student clinicians in Misericordia University's Speech-Language Pathology Department, and was held in the Literacy Lab of the University's newly renovated Passan Hall. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

Through evidence-based, hands-on activities, children developed phonological awareness, oral and written language comprehension, letter-sound knowledge, and narrative understandingโ€”essential building blocks for reading success and future academic achievement.

The program not only supports local families but also provides graduate student clinicians with valuable opportunities to apply their knowledge while serving the community.

Interested in learning more about our literacy programming or joining the waiting list for next year's Kindergarten Readiness Program? Contact Dr. Kathleen Scaler Scott at 570-674-1437 or [email protected].
