From backstage, our school song played twice. The first is an original arrangement by Carmelo Alcantar In collaboration with WIMEC. The second is the original score by Jim Abbott and Bert Pigg, also alums from the first years of Arts Magnet.

The joy of sharing that moment together is priceless, as a class, as an audience. Our shared humanity is best experienced when we share in our big moments like this.

Thank you everyone for everything each parent, student, faculty and staff member did to make this day happen. Every small step you took each day of the last 4 years brought you here. Thank you and congratulations!

Look out, Class of 2025! It's your turn to start all the festivities that make up your senior year. First up will be your Yearbook photos. But here, we do not just do yearbook photos like you have always done. We hire Angela Navarette Photography and her associates to make beautiful keepsake portraits at affordable prices.

Our portrait week is scheduled for August 5-7, just before the school year kicks off. We strongly advise getting your photos done before school starts. If you're out of town, we have a one-day opportunity after school starts. However, we recommend scheduling your session during the summer if you're in town to avoid any last-minute rush.

Here is the link with all the details.

See you in August!

When she enters Yale University in the fall, Sofia R. will merge her two passions – neuroscience and theater.

“It’s really a unique experience getting to do arts and academics during the day — at the same time,” she said. “You get that ability to express yourself creatively and any way you want.”

Having been interested in both subjects since she was a kid, the senior at Booker T. Washington High School for Performing and Visual Arts credits her well-rounded high school experience with giving her the opportunity to take the jump from Dallas, Texas to New Haven, Conn.

Next week, our seniors, the class of 2024, will be doing a Senior Service Activity to help us clean up the school for next year. The purpose is to leave a place as clean or cleaner than you found it!

I have made a wish list for the main MAT theater, including items we need to clean and organize, but also just items we need. If you feel so inclined, you can help us get the job done.

Vonda K. Production Coordinator, thank you in advance.
