We are mourning the recent loss of two beloved alumni students of SMU theatre with all who knew Madi Duren & Julian Harris. Madi and Julian were heavily involved in SMU theatre not just in main-stages, but the department as a whole. They fostered a thoughtful and kind environment wherever they were, and dedicated themselves to their craft. After graduation in May of this year, they became heavily involved in the theatre industry in the DTX area, investing themselves in art and in people. We send thoughts to everyone who knew Madi and Julian and are affected by this tragic loss.

Big news from SMU Meadows School of the Arts! This fall, we're welcoming the inaugural cohort of the Sexton Institute for Musical Theatre. Selected through a highly competitive national audition process, these 12 students from across the country will become the first class to pursue SMU's new Musical Theatre degree, helping launch an exciting new chapter for the Division of Theatre.

Please join us in welcoming the Class of 2030: Dylan Baer, Sofia Bornia, Sherlicia Cariolét, Harrison Dunker, Will Hurtt, Hannah Lee, Lacey Loocke, James McGinnis, Olivia O'Donnell, Aiden Olson, Audrey Seneli and Kendal Walls.

With conservatory-level training in acting, singing and dance, alongside academic coursework, performance opportunities and mentorship from acclaimed faculty and industry professionals, these students are preparing to become the next generation of musical theatre artists.
