Thank you to award-winning neuroscientist, author and science communicator Dr. Ben Rein for visiting Shelton and inspiring students in our Upper School Neuroscience, Psychology and Sociology classes!

Dr. Rein, author of "Why Brains Need Friends: The Neuroscience of Social Connection," shared his personal journey of overcoming setbacks, discovering his passion for neuroscience and pursuing his dreams. He also praised our students' thoughtful questions: "These questions are so good. I love these questions."

We're grateful for his time, insights and encouragement!

Our Class of 2030 had a fiesta-filled day at our Freshman Fiesta!

Students enjoyed a special nacho bar luncheon, delicious churros with chocolate sauce, fun games, and time to connect with their classmates. It was a wonderful opportunity for our freshmen to take a break from their regular school routine and make some fun memories together!

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing parent volunteers who helped with setup and cleanup. We appreciate you taking the time to help make this event such a success for our students!

We love celebrating our freshmen and making their Shelton experience special!

It takes a whole team to make the magic happen! From the actors lighting up the stage to the tech crew running sound, lights and cues flawlessly, today’s 5th and 6th grade drama performances were incredible.

Fifth grade performed The Poe Plays, an adaptation of some of Edgar Allen Poe's poems through spooky acting and technical theatre. Sixth grade taught us the value of family in scenes from I'm a Teenager Get Me Out of This Family.

Take a bow, team!

Some of the most meaningful teaching journeys begin with a personal connection. 💙

For Shelton SEE Reading Teacher Gabrielle Steinberg, that journey began when her son was diagnosed with dyslexia and enrolled at Shelton. Inspired by the teaching methods that helped him learn and grow, Gabrielle pursued SEE training and discovered her own passion for helping students with learning differences thrive.

Now, with 15 years at Shelton, Gabrielle brings her experience, specialized training and compassion to her sixth- and seventh-grade reading students.

Thank you, Gabrielle, for turning a family's experience into a lasting commitment to helping other students discover their potential!

Lower School students continue to celebrate Dyslexia Awareness Month by learning more about dyslexia through books, science, hands-on lessons and creative projects.

The Lower School Dyslexia Awareness Celebration officially kicked off Oct. 1, when third- and fourth-grade students attended an assembly led by Lower School teacher Tobin Womble, who shared facts about the brain and dyslexia.

Pre-Primary through second grade students are reading “Detective Duck.” Today, first- and second-grade students connected the book to science through a water preservation lesson led by the Dallas Environmental Education Initiative.

The month-long celebration brings together reading, science and hands-on learning to help students better understand dyslexia and the many ways people learn.

Expect mistaken identities, young love, mischievous fairies, amateur actors and plenty of laughs.
