Have you ever felt lost or stuck in life? I think we all have. That feeling where we are in a boat paddling upstream and not getting anywhere can be frustrating and even depressing. When we get in these states, it's sometimes a clue that we are not aligned with our purpose. Or maybe we are working in our purpose, but its time to make a few changes or tweaks to what we are doing. In the classic book "The Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkein wrote a poem that included the line, "Not all who wander are lost." That may be true for you.
I did a teaching recently on "Finding Your Purpose", and within it discussed some ways a person can identify what it is they are called to do.
One way to find your purpose is to look at your gifts and talents. What are you gifted at? What are you really good at that comes easily to you? Do you have the gift of creativity? Acting? Writing? Athletics? Music? Are you a gifted teacher? Leader? Listener? What is it that comes naturally to you? God usually gifts people with abilities that are close to their calling.
Another thing to think about: What are you passionate about? Is there a cause you feel strongly about? Is there something you love to do or learn about? It could be absolutely anything. If money weren't an issue, what would you do? Determining your passion can help you figure out your purpose. I've heard it said before that God works at the intersection of our gifts and passion. Think about where your gifts meet your passion and that may give you a great indication of the area you were purposed for.
