Tan Sao - translates to “palm up hand”. This is a critical movement in Wing Chun and is more of an action than a static position. The primary purpose is to disperse the energy of an incoming attack, and there is typically forward intention applied to the opponent. Tan Sao is introduced in the Siu Nim Tau forms.
