INCREASE NEW/TRANSFER PLAYERS BY 7!

Let's get into it! Currently a college football program holds 85 spots on the team. They are allowed to bring in up to 25 players per recruiting class (based on need) that INCLUDE JUCO and 4 years transfers. Teams were additionally tested with being allowed to waive eligibility for last year's seniors due to the pandemic, which left some programs with over 100 players to manage and limited opportunities for high school recruits.

The NCAA is hoping to at least mitigate some of the chaos by adding 7 additional spots to the 25 per year, voting on this in the first week of October. What this could mean for high school recruits is more spots to turn non-commitable offers into true offers. The flip side is a program could rotate in more one and done players. It will be your job to know the school's trend if you are interested.

Got questions? I got answers otherwise HAPPY RECRUITING!

WE'RE NOT DONE! NEXT UP... Does degree progression affect your scholarship?

When it comes to college athlete academics maintaining a certain GPA isn't the only factor. While amateur status may be waived the rest of the rules still apply including how many classes you successfully complete each semester or PROGRESSION.

If you are not making progression toward your degree you can be ruled academically ineligible to play. If you don't play a program can pull your scholarship. So when visiting try to get clarity to help you make the best college choice for you. SIDE NOTE: The divisions have different rules. If you have questions we have answers.

UGR is over the moon excited to congratulate 2022 client QB/LB Curtis Straup of Cottonwood HS (UT) on picking up interest from Cincinnati for football! The 6'1/195 Curtis has been putting in extra work for his team at LB as well as DB to help get the job done this year. He's been nicknamed the "Swiss arm knife!" Leadership skills, size and coachability puts Curtis over the top. Can't wait to see where the rest of the season takes him. LET'S GOOOOOO!

THE ONE WE DON'T THINK ABOUT!

Even in everyday life we are more reactive to this one than proactive. There are several questions we SHOULD ask under this category but one of the top is if there's a school related injury, what insurance am I expected to carry vs what the school program will cover. It will be different at different levels and I do emphasize SCHOOL RELATED (see bonus question in there.) So far I haven't seen this as a negotiating point so the "price is the price." This may help at crunch time to decide which program is the best for you. Any questions, hit us up otherwise HAPPY RECRUITING!

THE FIRST IN OUR SERIES IS... Scholarship.

Top question = Is the scholarship offer a renewable one? Whether it's a full ride or a partial you need to be aware if you have to re-sign for your scholarship each year. This will remind you that your spot is not guaranteed and you are competing for more than just playing time. Most scholarships are 4 one year contracts that must be accepted and re-signed each year. If you haven't been approached, then you might be getting replaced. If you've got more questions, we've got answers.

NEW SERIES ON DECK!

In working with recruiting clients for about a decade now some things still remain the same year over year. One thing happens to be not knowing what to ask for when visiting colleges as an athlete. So while we can't give away all the goods, thought it would be nice to share a few top questions based on the categories ACADEMICS, LIFESTYLE, ATHLETICS, MEDICAL, and SCHOLARSHIP. So stay tuned!
