Our Primer Eagles welcomed families to campus for Pedacitos de Primer, the culminating event for their year-long garden project. After months of planting, creating, and learning, students hosted their own farmers market featuring handmade goods crafted entirely by Primer. Every item sold was thoughtfully made by the class, making each “little piece” (or “pedacito”) especially meaningful.

Today, our sixth grade scientists dissected squids, identifying their body structures and discussing their functions. Students examined how different adaptations support movement, feeding, and defense while exploring the ways organisms survive within larger ecosystems. The lab also reinforced key biology concepts like predator-prey relationships and the roles producers, consumers, and decomposers play in maintaining balance in the natural world.

At ESD, great teaching takes countless forms. It happens in classrooms and science labs, on stages and athletic fields, in art studios, libraries, and gymnasiums. From the earliest years through graduation, our educators create spaces where students are challenged, encouraged, and known. This week, we’re celebrating the teachers whose thoughtfulness, expertise, and care shape the student experience each day. We are deeply grateful for all they pour into this community. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to our incredible faculty!
