Changing colleges should mean carrying your progress forward.

During National Transfer Student Week, Educate Texas is supporting “Start from Yes,” a national effort to improve how learning is evaluated and recognized.

Through the Texas Transfer Alliance, we work with partners to help make transfer a smoother, more affordable experience so more students can complete a degree or credential of value.

Have experience supporting transfer students or evaluating college credit? AACRAO and Sova want your perspective to help strengthen pathways across higher education.

Helping more students get to “I applied!”

Our Texas College Access Network (TxCAN) team made deliveries across Dallas-Fort Worth today, bringing materials to high schools and nonprofit education partners. The packets pair college application resources with items that help partners spread the word and celebrate students taking the next step.

There’s still time to apply! Through Sunday, Oct. 18, Texas residents can submit undergraduate applications to Texas public colleges and universities through ApplyTexas with $0 application fees.

Submit by 11:59 p.m. CDT Sunday at ApplyTexas.org.

College applications and financial aid are both important parts of planning for education after high school.

During Texas Free College Application Week, Oct. 12-18, Texas residents can submit undergraduate applications to public colleges and universities through ApplyTexas without paying an application fee.

As students apply, educators, counselors and families can also help them complete the financial aid application that fits their circumstances:

• The FAFSA helps eligible students apply for federal, state and institutional financial aid.

• The TASFA allows eligible Texas students who do not complete the FAFSA to apply for state financial aid.

A counselor, adviser or college financial aid office can help determine which one is appropriate.

Submitting a college application creates an option. Completing a financial aid application helps students understand the resources that may make enrollment possible.

Free applications must be submitted through ApplyTexas by 11:59 p.m. CDT Sunday, Oct. 18.

FAFSA preparation starts before students begin the application.

Educators, counselors, advisers and college-access partners can help students and families take three important steps:

• Create a separate StudentAid.gov account for the student and each required contributor.
• Gather the personal and financial information needed to complete the FAFSA.
• Determine whether the FAFSA or TASFA is the appropriate financial aid application and review priority deadlines.

Clear, trusted guidance can make the financial aid process easier to navigate and help students keep their education and career goals within reach.

What students learn today should connect to where they can go tomorrow.

New Texas Instruments Foundation investments are helping Sherman Independent School District build a new PK-12 STEM ecosystem and Denison ISD expand STEM learning and college and career pathways.

The investment also strengthens how teachers teach and helps align pathways with opportunities after high school.

“Alignment around pathways, so that these students are set up for success when they leave high school,” TI Foundation Executive Director Andy Smith told KTEN in a recent story highlighting the investment.

We’re proud to continue working alongside the TI Foundation, Sherman ISD and Denison ISD to strengthen STEM education and prepare students for what’s next.

Opportunity Youth represent untapped potential across North Texas and investing in their success strengthens our entire workforce and economy.
In the Dallas–Fort Worth region alone, more than 110,000 young adults are disconnected from school and work. Through the DFW Opportunity Youth Collaborative, Educate Texas is working with partners to create a coordinated approach that reconnects young adults to education, meaningful careers, and long-term economic mobility.
By aligning education, workforce, and community efforts, we can close opportunity gaps and support young Texans in realizing their full potential.
