We are proud to advocate for all women and we thank the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Women for the invitation to have our director, Katherine Pohlidal participate in this important and impactful event. 💙💛

Misericordia University is proud to have the Ruth Matthews Bourger Women with Children Program recognized during Pennsylvania's State of the Woman Listening Tour.

Program Director Katherine Pohlidal represented the university as a featured speaker, joining leaders from across Northeastern Pennsylvania to discuss the experiences, challenges, and opportunities facing women throughout the Commonwealth. During the session, she highlighted the impact of our nationally recognized Women with Children Program, which empowers single mothers through higher education while providing comprehensive support for their children.

Through affordable housing, childcare, academic support, financial literacy, career development, and a holistic two-generation approach, the program continues to help families build brighter futures and break the cycle of poverty.

We are honored to see the life-changing work of this program recognized on a statewide stage and remain committed to creating opportunities that strengthen families, transform lives, and make a lasting impact in our communities. 💙💛

We are so thankful for the advocacy and support of Senator Lisa Baker and Senator Judy Ward as well as the leadership of our staff Katherine Pohlidal Kristi Lyons Sandy Johnson! On behalf of the Bourger Women with Children Program we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone that supported our May is for Mothers designer purse raffle. We are thrilled to announce that we raised a record breaking $13,715 for our program’s endowed scholarship fund. Special thanks to our Major Sponsor, The William G.
