For so many, the journey to growing a family includes a loss that others may never see—the loss of a pregnancy, a baby, an embryo, or the future they had already begun imagining.
At Giving Hope, we know that behind every fertility journey is a deeply personal story. This month, we remember the babies who were deeply loved, the pregnancies that were deeply wanted, and the families who carry that love with them every day.

Can You Be on Birth Control and Still Donate Your Eggs?
YES! 🧡

Many forms of birth control are compatible with egg donation, although some may need to be temporarily stopped or adjusted before your donation cycle.

Here’s a quick breakdown! 👇
💊 Birth Control Pills: Generally allowed! Your team may adjust your prescription before stimulation begins.
🩹 The Patch & NuvaRing: Both must be discontinued at the beginning of your donation cycle.
✨ Non-Hormonal IUD: Typically can stay in place throughout the donation process.
✨ Hormonal IUD (Mirena, Kyleena): May need to be removed before your cycle.
💉 Depo-Provera: Must be discontinued at least 6 months before donation, with at least 2 normal menstrual periods.
💪 Arm Implant (Nexplanon): Must be removed, followed by at least 2 normal menstrual periods.
💕 Tubes Tied? You can still donate! Tubal ligation does not affect egg retrieval.

To apply with Giving Hope Egg Donation, you must:

Be 20–28 years old
Have a high school diploma
Have attended or graduated from a college or technical school
Have a clean personal and family health history
Have no history of infertility or endometriosis
Be a non-smoker and non-drug user
Be height/weight proportionate (BMI 28 or below)
Have no criminal convictions other than traffic violations
Be mature, responsible, and able to understand the time commitment and dedication required to complete a cycle
