We don’t really concentrate on it all the time, but we have a tremendous impact on our children. We teach them how to think and act and they will be like us in many ways. Be careful what you pass on to them ... and bathe it all in prayer.

I enjoy watching these shows on TV where people live off the land in remote places like Alaska. But I can't help but wonder why anyone just lives for themself with no desire to help or impact other people.

2 ways to grow - mentor someone or be mentored. Both are important for every leader. Knowledge and wisdom flow both ways.

Setting realistic expectations is one of a leader's most important responsibilities.

Train others to carry your vision forward.

Getting what you want is not necessarily a good definition of success.

It's important to do things of eternal consequence. So how do we accomplish that when so much of what we do seems routine and inconsequential? My solution is to carve out time each day to do that which will make a difference... spend time with God in prayer & the Word... take on kingdom projects... share the Gospel... help others... encourage someone... It adds up over time. God is keeping score.

A good leader knows that he is made out of dirt just like everyone else, but in the hands of the living God he can be fashioned into something significant. In the same way, a leader attempts to help shape those who follow him.

Courage is the lynchpin of all other leadership values. For without courage--emotional, mental, physical and spiritual--people in general too often make less than their best decisions. It takes courage to do the right thing.

Leaders know where they are going and how to get there, but they understand the need to build consensus when possible.

And effective leader doesn't tell other people everything that crosses his mind, but is selective about what he communicates.

A leader does not always realize the important role they play in the lives of others. Look around... someone is taking their cues from you and maybe you never realized it.

We process information according to our grid or point of reference and so do our followers. In order to lead them effectively your grid must be properly aligned with their grid - that results in clear and effective communication!
