We are so proud of our Paulding County 4-H Forestry Judging Team! We had a great day last week at the Northwest District Forestry Judging Field Day, with our Juniors taking first place honors. Members of the team represent schools across our Paulding County School District, including South Paulding Middle School, Scoggins Middle School, Crossroads Middle School, McClure Middle School, Moses Middle School, and Temple Middle School in the Carroll County School District. Way to go Team! We are grateful to our Paulding County Georgia Master Gardener Extension Volunteers for assisting these 4-H'ers with learning about forestry for several months in preparation for the contest.
Paulding County 4-H Celebrates Excellence in Forestry Judging!
Paulding County 4-H is proud to recognize an outstanding group of 4-H’ers who recently competed in the Northwest District Forestry Judging Competition in Conyers, Georgia.
Ten Junior 4-H’ers spent the summer preparing for the competition, learning about one of Georgia’s most valuable natural resources—our forests. Forestry Judging is a competitive event that challenges 4-H’ers to identify trees, insects, and forest diseases. Participants also demonstrate skills in compass and pacing, as well as estimating sawtimber volume.
Through Forestry Judging, youth gain valuable knowledge and hands-on experience while developing a greater appreciation for Georgia’s forests, their importance to our economy, and the
role they play in our quality of life.
