Post-peel skin is a broken barrier with a grudge. Most mistakes happen right here — in the healing window. Here’s what I use instead. Avène Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream → Barrier repair with sucralfate + copper-zinc sulfates — antimicrobial AND healing → Fragrance-free, minimal ingredient list, designed specifically for post-procedure skin → Creates a protective environment so skin can repair without interference EltaMD UV Clear SPF 46 → Post-peel skin is photosensitive — skipping SPF undoes everything you just paid for → Lightweight, non-irritating, and won’t fight your healing barrier → Non-negotiable. Full stop. Lypo-Spheric Vitamin C → Topical Vitamin C belongs nowhere near freshly peeled skin → Liposomal delivery = actual absorption supporting collagen synthesis from the inside → Let your skin rebuild — feed it internally while you wait Don’t overcomplicate the healing phase. Less is the protocol.

I don’t chase problems… I freeze them at -320°F until they tap out. ❄️💅
Pre-workout. Weights. Kid drop-off. Clinic. The skin you’re trying to protect? It runs on the same discipline. Show up for it.

Breaking into derm as a PA is not impossible. It just requires doing things other people won’t.
I wrote the letters. Attended grand rounds nobody sent me to. Paid sitter out of pocket to shadow. Applied for any job inside a derm clinic.
One application led to a maternity leave. That maternity leave became my career.
The gate is real. So is the window.
Full playbook in the carousel. Save it. Share it with a PA who needs it.
My kids asked what I was like in the 90s. Baby oil. Tanning beds. No SPF. Rode the lawn mower outside in East Texas just to get more sun. Noxzema and Sea Breeze were my entire skincare routine. Aqua Net was a food group. I was part cheerleader, part academic overachiever — Academic Decathlon, Who’s Who in Science, Most Studious — and all of it wrapped in a girl who was a lot less confident than she looked. I was part of everything and somehow still on the periphery of all of it. Entered her first marriage thinking she had it all figured out. I did not have it all figured out. I am now the person who lectures patients about cumulative UV damage for a living. PA for 24 years. Dermatology for 12. Doctorate in Medical Science. Turning 50 this year — and my skin is a testament to both the mistakes and the course correction. So is the rest of me, honestly. The queen of no sun was not always the queen of no sun. 👑🚫☀️
Share with your peeps! 🫶🏻EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) — tapping on acupressure points while naming what you’re feeling — sounds a little out there until you’re a healthcare provider sitting in your car between patients, and it actually works. The research on EFT is growing. It’s been shown to reduce cortisol, ease anxiety, and help regulate the nervous system — which matters a lot when your job runs on adrenaline and empathy. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. And I think one of the most honest things I can do is show you what managing mine actually looks like — not polished, not perfect. Just me, my car, and my fingers on my Chinese pressure points. What does your decompression look like? 👇
The speed she came running though 👏
I didn’t feel ready in undergrad. I didn’t feel ready going back. What are you still waiting to say yes to?
