I MADE TOO 15 YA’Ll! BUT IT AIN’T OVER.

I need your help to get to the top 10, then the top 5, top 3 and ultimately the winner.

Here’s a little story:

I’m actually a very private person. I’m an artist and thus in the public eye, but I keep me to me. I want to tell you why I am pushing to win this Fab over 40.

When I was 13 years old, my right breast grew twice the size of the left. I was entering high school and very scared as a late bloomer. I was taken to Sears & Roebuck on Lamar St. (Now called Southside on Lamar) and given two bra pads to camouflage the difference and sent to school. When I returned to school, I remember one of the boys saying to me, “Damn! Your ti***es grew big over the summer.” He didn’t know any better, but I was so embarrassed.

When I was finally taken to the doctor, I was told I had a mass the size of a golf all in my breast. I was blessed though. It turned out to be benign. They said I had finrocystic breasts. I would sometimes lie in bed screaming from the pain I felt. A time came when I had to be taken to the hospital. The doctors said they had never seen a case like mine. They admitted me to the hospital immediately. I had surgery and they asked to document the case for study and future education. You can imagine how scared I was at such a young age.

Upon my first year in college at age 16, new lumps were found in both breasts. This time they were only marble sized, but I still had to endure day surgery for removal. I am one of the blessed ones. Though my breasts have never been identical since the surgery at age 13, I do not have breast cancer in my family history. My mammograms have always been clear, but I check consistently.

I share my story so you will understand the importance of your support for this competition. Do I want to win? Yes, I do. But it’s not just about me. It’s about all women and all the changes we deal with throughout our feminine lives. It’s about awareness of the female body whether young or older. It’s about selfcare and self realization. It’s ultimately about self-love. I pray you will support this journey I’ve endured and help me to win for all beautiful, black sisters, daughters, mothers, aunties, and grandmothers. For all feminine energies. I appreciate you reading this, and thank you for your support.
