Current Studies | SMU KID Lab Current Studies and projects underway at the SMU KID Lab

If anyone is looking for a fun, educational activity for your little and up for helping the science of child development, the SMU KID Lab is looking for 17-30-month-old children (born April 2022-April 2023) and their parents to participate in the "Tech & Talking" research study. Participating involves a 1-hour visit to SMU’s campus in Dallas (for whatever day/time works for you), a fun activity for the kids, and $20 for you! We also try to give parents informal feedback on their child’s language development.

Have you heard of the SMU KID Lab Tech & Talking research study?The first of many papers is out and making waves! We find that children exposed to higher rates of video watching tend to have smaller vocabularies, but that other forms of media (video chats, e-books) are not as harmful and when videos are used for social connection or education, it might offset the negative effects in some children.
