Our concert hall was filled with beautiful music this weekend as we debuted our brave Twinklers, then showcased our graduating seniors—all in one afternoon! We will miss our seniors, but are extremely proud of how far they’ve come and can’t wait to see what they do next!

This Saturday, March 30th, at 5:30pm, SMID faculty Evan Ritter (piano) and Bella Markham (viola) will be giving a recital featuring works by Benjamin Britten, Frank Bridge, Zoltan Kodaly, and Alexander Glazunov. It’s sure to be a fabulous performance to inspire our young students and music lovers of all ages! Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Hope to see you there! 🎻 🎹

Congratulations to Carson Bosita, piano studio of Dr. Bret Serrin, who recently won first place at the American Protege' International Competition. Carson will perform at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City on November 29th, 2024. Well done, Carson! 🎹🥇🎉🎉

Congratulations to SMID cellists Grant McHenry and Isabel Chapman, and violinist Alexander Yu for making it into TMEA All State orchestra!
Isabel represents SMID as the only freshman cellist in the top orchestra. Grant ranked an impressive 12th in the entire state of Texas. and Alexander is SMID’s new ambassador for SLOW, relaxed practice as the way to successfuly compete at such a high level. congratulations students and teachers!

Congratulations to SMID student Ben Peckham, pianist! Ben has been chosen as a finalist in the DSO’s Lynn Harrell Concerto Competition. The finalists will compete for a $5k First Prize and a performance of the winning concerto with the DSO to follow in the summer/next season. The final round is live and open to the public at the Meyerson Symphony Center on Sunday, April 2 from 2-4pm.
