This Father's Day promises to be especially memorable for UNT Dallas College of Law 2024 graduate Zoe Kiraly and her father, John, a 2019 graduate. They share a special relationship. More than parent and child, they both earned their law degrees from – and only five years apart.

A legend of UNT Dallas College of Law will retire on June 30. Ernest “Ernie” Higginbotham has been the facilitator of the Judge Louis A. Bedford Jr. Mentorship Program for nearly a decade. Under his leadership, the program has helped more than 800 graduates complete law school and enabled them to make valuable connections within the legal community.

UNT Dallas launched its first free summer program for incoming freshmen to ensure they are prepared for college-level coursework. The Trail Ready Summer Bridge Program started this week and runs for four weeks through July 3rd. The deadline to register for the next session is July 10th.

✨Chloe Flower is an internationally acclaimed American pianist, composer, producer, fashion influencer, and activist. Flower has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Babyface, Céline Dion, and Nas. Her performance at the 2019 Grammys was a viral sensation. ✨Nichkhun is a Thai American soloist, actor, and model based in South Korea. He is a member of the kpop group 2PM.

As we continue to celebrate 🎉 AAPI Month, we are recognizing musicians and all of their many accomplishments. H.E.R is a singer, writer, and actress who has four Grammys, including one for song of the year in 2020. The R&B singer earned her first Oscar after winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song in the film, Judas and the Black Messiah. She is now halfway to earning the coveted “EGOT,” which is when an artist is awarded an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.

As we continue to celebrate AAPI Month, we are recognizing musicians and all of their many accomplishments. Peter Gene Hernandez, better known by his stage name, Bruno Mars, is a Filipino-Puerto Rican American singer-songwriter, producer and musician signed to Atlantic Records. As of 2023, Mars has 18 top 10 hits in the USA, including eight #1 singles combined. Mars has won 15 Grammy Awards in his career.

For Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating women in music that hail from the Great State of Texas!

Beyoncé Knowles formed the group Destiny’s Child when she was just 9 years old. The Houston native then launched a hugely successful solo career, winning a record-setting 32 Grammy Awards. She’s also a Golden Globe and Academy Award nominee, and she recently became the first Black woman to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart with her hit “Texas Hold ’Em.”

Miranda Lambert entered her first country music talent show when she was 10-years old. Her big break came in 2003 when she competed on Nashville Star. The Longview native has since had six platinum albums and won five ACM Album of the Year Awards.

For Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating women in music that hail from the Great State of Texas.

Dallas native Erykah Badu is an R&B singer with deep jazz influences. Though she was never formally trained in music, she wrote all but one song on her debut album, Baduizm, which won the Grammy for Best R&B Album in 1997. She’s known as the “Queen of Neo-Soul.”
