Join us in celebrating SIL Papua New Guinea's 70th year of work!
Over seven decades, SIL PNG has contributed to language development in more than 400 of PNG’s 800+ languages and supported the translation of the New Testament into over 230 languages.
The Prime Minister Hon. James Marape highlighted in a speech how SIL’s work has reached even the most remote parts of the country, bringing literacy, education, and Scripture to communities across PNG.
“This is not just translation—it is transformation” –Prime Minister Marape. 🎊👏

For decades, David carried the stories and sounds of the Banne language in his heart. Today, those stories are becoming written words.
Through collaboration with local leaders and SIL-supported training, David and other local authors are helping create a writing system, keyboard, and literacy materials for the Banne community.
“I dream of a future where all children can read and write in the Banne language.”

With support from SIL Bangladesh, children began learning to read and write in Kurux—and soon, parents asked to learn too. Some adults had never learned to read or write in 𝘢𝘯𝘺 language before.
Now, the Kurux language is being lived, shared, and passed on. What was once fading is now returning—one conversation, one lesson, and one generation at a time! 🙌

Designed with simplicity to meet the basic requirements of a recording studio, the studio at SIL South Sudan continues to serve its purpose effectively. Here, audio Scriptures and Scripture-based songs have been recorded for various communities. Ministry partners such as Faith Comes By Hearing also occasionally use the studio for their recording projects.

Big idea: holistic community flourishing
Big question: how do we measure it?
At a recent LEAD Global event in Thailand, participants dug into both—exploring tools, testing frameworks, and learning how to better support lasting change in communities.
By focusing on real needs, asking better questions, and adapting tools across cultures, they’re working toward one goal: turning “flourishing” from an ideal into reality.
One participant said it best: “The Lord cares for every aspect of our lives.” 👏

Caring for our environment starts with understanding it. 🌱
When people can access information about their land, water, and resources in a language they truly understand, it becomes clearer, more relevant, and more actionable.
From protecting forests to managing crops and responding to environmental challenges—language makes knowledge usable.
