We have established scholarships to APTA members to fund registration for the 2027 APTA Combined Sections Meeting (CSM). Our goal is to promote and grow professional involvement within our professional organization and encourage participation in APTA/APTA PA activities. The NED serves the counties of Susquehanna, Northampton, Wayne, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lackawanna, Wyoming, Monroe, Carbon, and Pike.

We are currently seeking applicants for the upcoming CSM conference to be held in Philadelphia, PA on February 4-6, 2027. Specifically, we are hoping to award scholarships to 1 Physical Therapist; 1 Physical Therapist Assistant and 2 PT/PTA students to support ‘Early bird’ registration fees. Scholarships are open to PTs, PTAs and students as long as they are an APTA member in good standing (Non-members may apply with the expectation that they will become a member if accepted for the scholarship).

If you are interested in attending CSM, please complete the information in this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd95EoarNWM5AD6r8riBVa2iaCKhAcMte-Rba17g2BseekLBg/viewformPlease
Submit a statement of interest with an explanation on what you hope to gain from this experience by October 25, 2026. All submissions will be reviewed by an impartial committee and applicants will be notified of the board decision by November 1, 2026. This is a great professional opportunity with many positive benefits.

Alumni Spotlight!

Clare Winton
Class of 2022

After graduation, I began my career working in long-term care and short-term rehabilitation in Scranton. After about a year and a half, I decided to transition into an outpatient setting. There, I discovered my passion for specializing in pelvic health. In addition to pelvic health, I also specialize in lymphedema management. Continuing education has been an important part of my professional growth. I am currently in the process becoming a candidate to earn a Certificate of Advanced Practice in Pelvic Floor PT through the APTA Academy of Pelvic Health. I am hoping to complete that process by next year. I am so very grateful for the foundation that the PT Program at Misericordia provided me. The education, clinical experiences, and relationships I developed there played an important role in preparing me for my career and gave me the confidence to continue pursuing areas of physical therapy that I am passionate about.

Alumni Spotlight!

Sammy Miller
Class of 2021

I am currently a site manager and physical therapist at UF Health Rehab – Medical Plaza location (Gainesville, FL) where I specialize in treating primarily pelvic health and pelvic oncology patients. I play a supervisory role working with our organ transplant team, oncology team, ortho team, and lymphedema team as well as our mental health occupational therapy program and our medical massage program. UF Health is a hospital-based outpatient rehab facility with many locations across North Central Florida.

I am presenting at the FPTA this year on the importance of oncology physical therapy from the outpatient perspective and have presented at the University of Florida Department of Radiation Oncology Research Seminar in 2024 and will present again in 2027.

Misericordia University helped give me a strong support system of my fellow peers, and one of my classmates, Sabrina DiTucci is now my coworker in Florida!
