Welcome to UT Southwestern! Orientation season has been an exciting start to the academic year, and we were thrilled to welcome students from across our schools to the UT Southwestern community!

From meeting new classmates and exploring campus to learning about the many resources available, orientation marks the beginning of an incredible journey. We hope these first few days have been filled with new connections, excitement, and opportunities as you prepare for the year ahead.

☀️ Summer Spotlight ☀️

We asked our students what they’ve been up to this summer and as summer is coming to an end, we’re excited to highlight Lauren Blaydon’s experience!

As an MD/MPH dual degree student, Lauren spent her summer balancing MPH coursework while participating in the Community Health Fellowship Program (CHFP). She also remained actively involved in organized medicine by attending the American Medical Association (AMA) Annual Meeting in Chicago with her classmates and speaking at the Women in Medicine Conference hosted by the Dallas County Medical Society (DCMS).

Thank you Lauren, for sharing your summer journey with us! We’re proud to celebrate the many ways our students continue to learn, lead, and make a positive impact in their communities.

Interactive Health Careers Exploration Day 🩺

OSEE was proud to partner with the UT Southwestern Chapter of Black Men in White Coats to welcome local high school students for an inspiring day of exploration and discovery.

Throughout the event, students participated in interactive workshops, connected with faculty and healthcare professionals, and heard powerful stories about their journeys into the health professions. We hope the experiences and conversations shared throughout the day sparked curiosity and inspired the next generation of healthcare leaders.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success and to the students who joined us—we can’t wait to see where your journeys take you!
