Meet our 2026 Maguire Public Service Fellows!
This summer, five SMU students will dedicate 200+ hours to service-driven projects with organizations in Texas and India. Their work will explore public service through healthcare education, immigration policy, disability employment, medical cannabis advocacy, faith, and regenerative farming.
We are proud to support Tripp Gulledge, Tanya Harathi , Muntaha Sabir, Halle Tarvin, and Maddie Wiltse as they begin their summer of service!
Follow along this summer to learn more about each fellow and their project.

We’re excited to announce the winners of the 2025–2026 Maguire Ethics Essay Prize! This year’s prompt invited SMU students to consider when silence is an act of care, when it becomes complicity, and what we owe to others when it matters most.
The Maguire Ethics Essay Prize also serves as a pathway to national recognition. This year, select undergraduate winners were sponsored for submission to the Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics, a highly competitive national contest that brings together top student essays from universities across the country. Undergraduate essays will be published following the conclusion of the Elie Wiesel judging process.
Explore this year’s graduate division winning essays, along with selections from previous years: https://www.smu.edu/provost/ethics/studentengagement/essayprize
Join us in celebrating the students who took on this challenge!
