Did you know that dehydration is one of the leading causes of confusion and hospitalization in older adults?

As we age, our bodies naturally lose some of our sense of thirst. That means you might be dehydrated even if you don't feel thirsty at all! Water is essential for keeping your energy up, protecting your joints, and keeping your kidneys healthy. Low water intake also directly increases the risk of Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs).In the elderly, UTI symptoms look very different than they do in younger adults. Instead of the typical burning sensation, a UTI in an older adult often shows up as:
Sudden confusion or agitation Uncharacteristic lethargy or extreme fatigue Dizziness
or a sudden loss of balance
Loss of appetite If you or your loved one experiences a sudden change in behavior or alertness, it could be a sign of a UTI.
