At Shelton School & Evaluation Center, we believe that understanding a child’s experience is an important step toward creating meaningful support. The Embracing Neurodiversity Conference brings together parents, educators, and professionals to deepen their understanding of neurodiversity and explore ways to better support children with diverse learning needs.

We are proud to introduce the final pair of presenters for this year’s conference! Hema Jagada and Yvette Zapata will bring their experience and expertise to guide participants through an interactive simulation that offers a glimpse into what a child with learning differences may experience during everyday learning tasks.

Our work is not simply to fill children with information or rush them toward the next milestone. It is to protect and nurture their natural curiosity, their sense of wonder, their independence, and their desire to understand the world.

When we create environments where children feel safe to explore, make mistakes, ask questions, and discover for themselves, we are caring for something far more important than academic achievement alone.

We are helping keep that inner light alive.

Our Administrator cohort had the privilege of learning from guest speaker Dr. Susan Zoll, whose passion for Montessori education and literacy research inspired meaningful conversations about leadership, observation, and supporting every child’s learning journey.

A Montessori educator, researcher, author, and former Head of School, Dr. Zoll has served as Co-Chair of the American Montessori Society’s Research Committee and has dedicated her work to bridging research and classroom practice, particularly in early language and literacy. Her commitment to empowering educators through evidence-based practice beautifully aligns with Montessori’s vision of following the child.

We are grateful to Dr. Zoll for sharing her expertise and challenging our future Montessori leaders to continue growing as reflective, research-informed administrators.
