Kristin Arnold’s first grade class participated in a Pokémon Day. They made their own Pokémon cards and did a directed drawing of the Oddish Pokémon. They caught some Pokémon and added them to their Pokédex. They conducted research and measured each Pokémon. Because they are scientists and needed to make sure that their data was accurate, they measured three different ways.

Katie Garner, a keynote speaker that will be at a Region 10 conference tomorrow, visited our campus today to train our kindergarten and first grade teachers over “Secret Stories”. “Secret Stories” is a phonics tool that helps children learn why letters go together and produce specific sounds.

Mayfield Elementary announced the Teacher of the Year award to K-2 Resource teacher Amanda Hawkins. She was chosen for her support, advocacy, and genuine care she puts forth to the students and staff.

Our faculty and students celebrated December to Remember in their best Grinch or green attire! Tomorrow is ugly holiday sweater day.

This past Friday, Mayfield students and parents were invited to participate in activities that would explore the science behind super powers, such as super strength, invisibility, and x-ray vision. Families were invited to visit every station to become a science superhero!
