Update: I am in the homestretch!🏃🏻‍♀️👟 Final 5 lessons left to proofread ( #24-28) in the 2nd grade Editing & Revising Workbook! I am getting into the revising now! Exciting! I am hoping to publish by FRIDAY! Here is a sneak peek of word choice. This lesson is all about using more specific words to replace boring words in our writing. ✍🏻Who's ready for the break?! 🙋🏻‍♀️😍

I am going deep down the rabbit🐰 hole of GRAMMAR doing the final edits on this 2nd grade workbook this week. Here is the LEARN page on capitalization in a letter.

🤔2nd grade teachers - do you teach commas after the greeting and closing in a letter?

ex: Dear J***y,

✍🏻I added it on the LEARN page because I think it is important to teach this along with capitalization in letters even though it is not technically in the TEKS.

✍🏻This brings up an interesting topic of things you teach that are important but not necessarily in the TEKS. Ex: When they get to 3rd and 4th, they are expected to put commas after the greeting and closing in a letter, so for 2nd grade, I personally would TEACH it but NOT necessarily TEST students on the comma part. How can they write a letter (2.12C) and not put the commas in correctly?

✍🏻This is also how I feel about paragraphs and topic sentences in 4th and 5th grade. I teach paragraphs in 4th, but it is not necessarily tested in 4th. I also teach complex sentences in 4th. Does that make sense? What are your thoughts on this?

*Note: The 2nd Grade TEKS do not explicitly address comma usage in greetings and closings. 2.12C includes writing correspondence, and this workbook applies standard punctuation conventions (APA style) in those contexts.

Have your students acted out the DRAMA/PLAY yet in the 3rd-5th grade READING WORKBOOKS?! 🎭📚

Each student has their own workbook to read from! They can highlight and show their reading strategies!🙌🏻

Drama has a 5-question warm-up on drama and a 10-question practice on drama. All of the questions are TEKS-based with new STAAR question types - Part A/B, Multiselect, inline choice, hot text, SCRs, etc. The workbook comes with 11 weeks of warm-ups/bell-ringers for fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, argumentative, and paired passages! 📚✍🏻
