I had a little extra time yesterday, so I decided to completely refresh one of my favorite microscope resources. π¬
This updated Microscope Basics Lab now includes:
- A complete 5E learning sequence
- An interactive flipbook covering microscope parts and functions
- The classic inverted "F" microscope investigation
- A CER activity to help students support their observations with evidence
I wanted something that didn't just teach microscope vocabulary, but actually helped students think and work like scientists.
Available now on my TPT. Link in bio π

Here I am...

When I first started teaching science, I honestly thought being a good teacher meant having perfect lessons, perfect explanations, and perfectly controlled classrooms.
Over time, I realized that most meaningful learning doesnβt happen that way.
If youβre a new teacher, or simply feeling overwhelmed lately, I really want you to know this:
You do not need to cover everything perfectly.
Students learn a lot from confusion, mistakes, discussion, and curiosity (and ourselves too!).
Real-world examples usually matter more than beautiful slides.
Silence and thinking time are important, even if they sometimes feel uncomfortable.
And not every lesson needs to be extraordinary to be meaningful.
Some of my best science lessons happened when things didnβt go exactly as planned.
Teaching became much easier when I stopped trying to control every moment and started focusing more on how students were thinking.
Youβre probably doing better than you think π
π What do you wish someone had told you when you started teaching?
Grades... emails... end-of-year chaos π
