Seven years. Not an athlete. Shoulder surgery. Travel. Still showed up — and still getting stronger.

Jim’s words say it better than I can. Grateful for clients who trust the process long enough to feel the difference.

Calling all physicians.
Austin Martin Fitness, Dallas. Eight years in clinic with chronic illness, MS, and wheelchair-bound clients — progressive overload, not “just walk more.”
Machines first. Barbells optional, never forced. We live in the 5–30 rep range at high effort. That’s the hypertrophy window Brad Schoenfeld’s meta-analysis supports. We don’t program under 5. Not because heavy work is reckless — it’s safer than basketball — it’s just less controllable than 5–30 for this population.
Cardio is NuSteps and Arc Trainers. If bike seats have run your patients off equipment, these are why they cost $5–7k. People sit, talk, warm up, then lift.
One rule we keep: no overhead pressing. Closet shelves already wreck rotator cuffs. We don’t add to that.
In-clinic: $45/hour.
Daily calls available.
Keto transformation: $13,000 / 3 months.
Full transformation: $18,000 / 3 months.
3% off a month. 6% off a year.
Book is Strength After 60 if you want the written version of the same system.
Say the word.

KETO vs Ketish

09/25/2026

Keto can work.

But “low carb” doesn’t automatically mean “low calorie.”

Cheese. Nuts. Oils. Butter. Avocado. Fatty meats.

Great foods if you enjoy them. But keto can get very energy-dense, very quickly.

That doesn’t mean you need to quit keto.

It means we need to make keto work around your actual energy needs, body composition, protein requirements, activity, and goals.

That’s how I coach.

I’m not interested in forcing you onto my favorite diet.

We meet you where you are, then we make the numbers work.

My private 12-week transformation program is for people who want the entire process handled personally: assessment, nutrition, exercise, education, adjustments, and accountability.

Private coaching: $13,000.

DM KETO if you want details.

Walking is great.

But walking alone is not a strength program.

After 60, the goal shouldn’t just be to get your steps in. You need to give your muscles and bones a reason to stay strong.

Think about Milo of Croton. He didn’t become strong because he walked around every day. He became strong because the thing he carried kept getting heavier.

That’s progressive overload.

Walking can improve cardiovascular health, mobility, and daily activity. But if you want to fight age-related losses in strength and bone density, resistance training matters.

Keep walking. Just pick up something heavy, too.

I wrote Strength After 60 because “exercise more” isn’t much of a prescription. People deserve to know what to do and why they’re doing it.

Muscle is GREAT. 💪 But it’s not a metabolic cheat code.

About 10 pounds of muscle, which is a freaking TON of muscle to gain, burns roughly 60 extra calories per day at rest.

That matters. Small changes add up. But the idea that you can pack on some muscle and suddenly eat whatever you want because your metabolism is 🔥🔥🔥? Nope.

Build muscle for strength, function, bone health, independence, performance, and longevity.

Just don’t expect your biceps to erase the cheeseburger. 😂🍔

The boring truth still wins: you have to watch what you eat.

I’m always surprised how the general public doesn’t turn their food around and read the back before buying it. It’s the first thing I do. And you know what? I keep it simple. I look at protein and calories. I glance at the serving size, because that can be tricky. But most people get confused and nervous when they see nutrition labels. They demonize ingredients they can’t pronounce, which is a big no-no if you want to keep it simple. We live in a country with extremely high food safety. You don’t have to worry about ingredients, no matter what Food Babe says. I just remember that song: ‘Turn around—every now and then I get a little hungry and I turn the food around.’ Turn around—look at calories, protein, maybe fiber, and serving size too. It’s not hard. Don’t read every ingredient. Turn it around before you buy anything. If you’re struggling with your weight, use that heuristic: low calories, high protein.
