Meadow Oaks Montessori School opened in the fall of 2020. We are currently enrolling children ages 3 months - 6 years old.

Our school is located inside the same building as PTAA Charter school (K-8th grade) at Hillcrest & Arapaho in Dallas. We offer full time and part-time programs to accommodate a variety of schedules.

Freedom of movement is not a break from learning. It is the work.

In our Nido program, infants are given unstructured time to move, explore, and follow their own curiosity in an environment prepared for exactly that. Materials are accessible. The space is safe.

A calm, experienced guide is present: observing, supporting, and knowing when to step back.

This freedom is intentional. An infant who is allowed to reach, roll, examine, and choose builds the neural pathways that support attention, problem solving, and self-directed learning — skills that will serve them for years.

Parents who choose our Nido program find that this balance of freedom and structure is what sets it apart.

The Nido environment is prepared for movement, not just rest.

This wooden bridge is scaled to an infant's body and designed for exactly this stage of development. A child who is ready to pull up will find what they need here. A child who is ready to take their first steps will do so in a space built for that moment.

In Montessori, we don't rush these milestones. We prepare the environment so that when a child is ready, the opportunity is there.

The strength and coordination built here form the physical foundation for
everything that follows.

There is a question many parents ask as their child approaches kindergarten age — are they ready?

At Meadow Oaks, we've been preparing them since the beginning. The confidence you see in a five-year-old Montessori child — in how they hold a pencil, approach a task, settle into their work — is the result of years of intentional guidance.

Staying in the primary program through age six is not a delay. For many families, it is the strongest foundation they could give.

Come see where it begins.

A parent recently told us: "What sets Meadow Oaks Montessori apart is the remarkable consistency of its teachers and administrators. Our son has been cared for by the same loving, dedicated team throughout his entire enrollment, which has provided an incredible sense of stability- not just for him, but for us as parents."

For North Dallas families seeking a partner in early childhood education, we invite you to schedule a private tour of our school.

Independence begins earlier than most people expect.

Between 8 to 12 months, a child is already capable of participating in their own care. In our Nido program, snack time is a guided experience — not something that happens to a child, but something they begin to take part in.

An infant-sized table. A small bowl within reach. Our Nido guides understand each stage of infant development and know how to meet children exactly where they are. Snack time here is calm, unhurried, and thoughtfully supported — a small moment that carries real meaning.

Parents who choose our Nido program often remark that they didn't expect this level of intention at this age. We do.

💚 As part of our Earth Day focus this week, the Primary students performed Light a Candle for Peace. Their sweet voices bring joy as they share their light and wish for peace around the world. We love to see the pride that shines through their performance. 🌎 🤍💫

Before a child reads a word, they learn to see differences.

Visual discrimination is the ability to notice subtle distinctions in shape, orientation, and form, and it is one of the foundational skills that prepares the brain for literacy.

In this activity, a child matches leaf prints to their outlines, and aligns the wooden piece on top of it's corresponding card

The work looks simple. It is not.

Each match requires the child to study contour, compare detail, and make a decision. Repeated over time, this kind of focused observation builds the visual processing skills that will later help a child distinguish between letters — a "b" from a "d," a "p" from a "q." The peg handle is intentional as well. That small act of gripping and placing strengthens the hand for writing.

This is how Montessori works. The preparation happens long before the skill appears.

Today is Earth Day. This week, we've explored several themes inspired by what it means to live in harmony with the Earth and with each other. Recognizing and appreciating diversity in nature and among one another helps us cultivate kindness, respect, and awareness.
