Today, we want to shine our Staff Spotlight on our lead custodian, Leslie, as we celebrate Custodian Appreciation! 🎉

Leslie works hard every day behind the scenes to help keep our building clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. From early mornings to busy afternoons, her dedication and attention to detail make a difference that is noticed and appreciated.

A clean environment helps our students, staff, and visitors feel comfortable and cared for, and Leslie plays a huge role in making that happen. Her hard work, positive attitude, and commitment to excellence do not go unnoticed.

PVA Staff Spotlight: Chelsea Schmidt | PVA English - Mrs. Schmidt serves as the ELA teacher for Paulding Virtual Academy, where she teaches all virtual English Language Arts courses. She holds a master's in professional writing, a specialist degree in secondary English education, and is currently pursuing her Ed.D. Mrs. Schmidt is honors/AP certified, holds a dramatic writing micro-endorsement, and teaches part time as a screenwriting instructor at Trilith Institute. A screenwriter, musician, and self-described comic book geek, she loves working at NHEC!

☕🧶 What a wonderful time we had at Granny Club today! Our afternoon was filled with delicious tea and cookies, toe-tapping oldies music, and lots of creativity as we crocheted granny squares together. It was a joy to spend time chatting, laughing, and sharing stories while working on our projects. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made today's gathering so special. We can't wait to see you at the next Granny Club meeting! 💜

🚦 Innovation in Action at Paulding College & Career Academy! 🚗💡

Students at Paulding College & Career Academy had an exciting opportunity to explore the future of transportation, technology, and roadway safety through hands-on learning experiences with industry and community experts!

We were honored to welcome Prof. James Tsai from Georgia Tech, who kicked off the event with a welcome and introduction, along with our special guests:

⭐ Clarence Anthony – Partnership for Innovation
⭐ Erica Parish – Paulding County DOT Commissioner
⭐ Tony Tan – Georgia Department of Transportation

Throughout the event, students rotated through four interactive stations where they experienced innovative technologies being used to improve transportation and roadway safety:

🔹 LiDAR – Exploring how laser technology is used to measure and map the world around us
🔹 Curve Safety – Learning how technology and engineering can help make roadways safer
🔹 Eye Tracking – Discovering how researchers study driver attention and behavior
🔹 Computer Vision – Seeing how computers and cameras can analyze and interpret roadway environments

Experiences like this connect classroom learning with real-world careers in engineering, transportation, technology, and public safety. A huge thank you to all of our guests and partners for investing their time and expertise in our students!
