🎉 Happy 4th anniversary, Rebecca Brady! 🎉

For five years, Rebecca has been helping adults build something that can change the way they move through the world: the ability to read with confidence.

As Aspire’s Adult Basic Education Coordinator, Rebecca plays a key role in our Sequential English Education (SEE) program, where students learn through a structured, multisensory approach designed around the way they learn best. 📚

From learning the foundations of reading to gaining the confidence to take on what comes next, Rebecca has been there to guide students through each step.

We’re so grateful for the care, patience, and dedication she brings to this work!

Meet Dwot.

She’s working toward her GED while learning English at the same time.

For Dwot, earning a high school equivalency means navigating challenges most students don’t have to think about. Growing up as a refugee from Burma (Myanmar), she had limited access to education. Now, she’s making the most of an opportunity she once didn’t have.

Every class means learning new material while also working through a new language, question by question.

And still, Dwot shows up.

She studies. She asks questions. She keeps going.

Week after week, she’s working toward the day she earns her GED and can pursue the job opportunities she’s been working toward for so long.

Her determination is a reminder of what an opportunity can mean when someone is ready to make the most of it.

What can two days really change?

For Dan, it changed the direction of his life.

Rebuilding his life from a halfway house, Dan was trying to reenter a workforce that didn’t always make room for a second chance. A four-year gap on his resume made it difficult to get employers to look past the application.

Then he found Aspire’s workforce program in partnership with ReadyToWork.

“When I first walked in, I was nervous. I didn’t know if I would be judged.”

Instead, Dan found instructors who listened to his story and saw an opportunity worth investing in.

In just two days, Dan earned his forklift certification and OSHA certification. Those certifications helped Dan get his foot in the door at a warehouse in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Two years later, he’s a warehouse supervisor and on track to become the warehouse manager.

But the biggest change isn’t his job title.

It’s the stability he now has for his two children. It’s the confidence to imagine a future he once wasn’t sure was possible.

“It shows that there still is hope. There’s still a path. There’s still a way to work, retire, and have a good life.”

And when Dan looks back, he points to the opportunity that started it all.

“I was able to almost instantly get in for interviews. It was letting them see me rather than just a piece of paper.”

Have you ever felt out of place… Starting a new job, walking into a crowded conference, or sitting in a meeting full of people who all seem to know each other already?

For Leticia, that feeling had a name: English.

Leticia has a degree in chemistry. In her native language, she is capable, precise, and confident. But somewhere between knowing the words in English and saying them out loud, that confidence would disappear.

When she joined Aspire’s ESL program, she placed into Level 4. She already knew a lot of English. What she needed was the confidence to use it.

With patient teachers and a classroom where it was safe to make mistakes, Leticia began speaking more freely. She learned that she could push through the fear of getting something wrong.

Then came a moment when that confidence mattered more than ever: her U.S. citizenship interview.

“I was in the process of gaining my citizenship, and I had a great fear of the process. But it helped me a lot to be in this program, and my teachers were very encouraging and supportive. And now I've passed the citizenship interview!”

Leticia is now a U.S. citizen!

We’re so proud to have played a small part in her journey, and grateful for the teachers who helped her find the confidence to use her voice.
