COMMEMORATING 124 YEARS! Grambling State University opened its doors on November 1, 1901 as the Colored Industrial and Agricultural School. The North Louisiana Colored Agriculture Relief Association, organized in 1896 by a group of African-American farmers, wanted to form and operate a school for African Americans in their area of The State of Louisiana and sought assistance from Tuskegee Institute. In response to their request, Booker T. Washington of Tuskegee sent Charles P. Adams to help organize an industrial school and became its founding president. ,
Remember to join us in celebrating our 124th Founder's Day, which will be recognized with events on Thursday, October 30.
