UT Southwestern Medical Center includes three degree-granting institutions: UT Southwestern Medical School, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and the School of Health Professions. The schools train nearly 3,700 students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows each year.

- The Medical School, one of the largest in the country, graduates about 230 medical students each year.

- The Gradua

te School of Biomedical Sciences is a leading research institution with a nationally ranked Biology program.

- The School of Health Professions enrolls more than 300 students each year for studies at the master’s and doctorate levels. Education and training expand across a plethora of fields in the School of Health Professions, including its nationally ranked Physician’s Assistant program.

- The schools receive ongoing support from federal agencies such as the National Institutes of Health, along with foundations, individuals, and corporations, which provide $524 million per year to fund faculty research.

Listening to adolescents and their families may help shape more effective approaches to su***de prevention and treatment.

Savannah Dieste, a fourth-year doctoral student in UT Southwestern’s Clinical Psychology program, studies how trauma exposure and family dynamics influence treatment outcomes for adolescents experiencing depression and suicidal thoughts.

Her commitment to research, student well-being, and service to vulnerable communities earned her the 2026 Ida M. Green Award. Through her work, Savannah hopes to help clinicians provide more personalized assessment, intervention, and care.

The HEAL-UTSW (Housestaff Emerging Academy of Leaders) Leadership Roundtable and Virtual Leadership Summit are designed to help residents and fellows develop the skills needed to lead in academic medicine and beyond.

Finding your people looks different for everyone. 💙✨

SWay is bringing together students from across UT Southwestern through movement, creativity, and community. From beginner-friendly workshops to campus performances and social events, members are finding new friendships while stepping outside their comfort zones.

"I've loved seeing the growth of everyone who danced with us this semester and the supportive culture our members have built in such a short time," said SWay President Amanda Saving. "SWay has allowed us all to meet friends from across campus that we may not have otherwise."

"One of my favorite things about SWay is how quickly it became a community," added Vice President Shriya Telakalapalli. "After the first workshop, I found myself looking forward to it every week."
