THE POWER WENT OUT. BUT MY PEACE DIDN’T!

I have to share this testimony!

In our discipleship class at church, before we left, we were taught about PLEADING THE BLOOD OF JESUS over our families, our homes, our churches, our properties, our businesses, and everything connected to us.

And when the man or woman of God gives you biblical instruction, LISTEN and put it into practice!

Last night, I did exactly what we were taught. I pleaded the blood of Jesus over my family, my home, my church, my property, my business EVERYTHING!

Then early this morning, around 3:00 a.m., before my feet even hit the floor, I opened my mouth and did it AGAIN! I pleaded the blood of Jesus!

And shortly afterward, THE POWER WENT OUT!

It stayed out for about an hour.

But guess what?

THE DEVIL DIDN’T GET ANY GLORY! 🙌🏾🔥💯

I didn’t panic.
I didn’t get irritated.
I didn’t complain about the heat.
I didn’t lose my peace.

ALL WAS WELL!

I had already prayed. I had already pleaded the blood. And I rested in the peace of knowing that my family, my home, my church, my property, my business, and everything concerning me had been placed before God in prayer.

The electricity may have gone out, BUT MY PEACE NEVER DID!

Somebody needs to hear me: DON’T WAIT UNTIL TROUBLE COMES TO PRAY! When you receive biblical instruction, take it seriously. Pray over your household. Pray over your children. Pray over your church. Pray over your business. Pray over everything God has entrusted to you!

There is power in the blood of Jesus!

They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony Revelation 12:11 (NIV)

And THIS is my testimony:

I PLEADED THE BLOOD.
I TRUSTED GOD.
THE POWER WENT OUT.
BUT MY PEACE STAYED ON!

TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY! 🙌🏾🔥❤️

Sometimes I wonder if parents truly understand just how important the work we do really is.

For 8 to 9 hours a day, these babies are in our care.

Parents drop them off, go to work, handle life, and trust us with some of the most precious people in their world.

And during those hours, we become such a big part of their babies’ day.

We wipe tears.
We give hugs.
We teach.
We redirect.
We feed them.
We comfort them.
We celebrate the little victories.
We notice when something just isn’t quite right.
We learn their personalities, their routines, their likes and dislikes, and even what certain cries mean.

We get to witness moments parents sometimes don’t get to see.

So, does our job matter?

ABSOLUTELY.

Childcare isn’t just babysitting.

And this certainly isn’t a job for everybody.

It requires patience when you’re tired.
Grace when you’re frustrated.
Wisdom when situations are difficult.
Love when a child needs a little extra.
And peace when everything around you feels busy.

I’ve also learned something else over the years:

We aren’t for everybody and everybody isn’t for us.

There will be families for whom Kare Bear is the perfect fit, and there may be families for whom we aren’t.

And you know what?

That’s okay.

We’re not called to be everything to everybody.

We’re called to faithfully serve the children and families God has entrusted to us.

The older I get, the more I embrace that kind of wisdom.

I’m learning to appreciate the small moments.

The stillness.

The peace.

The laughter of a child.

The unexpected hug.

The little hand reaching for mine.

The parent who simply says, “Thank you.”

I’m learning that I don’t have to prove everything, explain everything, or be everything to everybody.

There is a certain peace that comes with knowing who you are, knowing what God has called you to do, and being okay when everyone doesn’t understand it.

And childcare?

No, this isn’t just my job.

It’s my passion.

These babies matter.
Their childhood matters.
The environment we create for them matters.
The love we pour into them matters.

And the people caring for them every single day matter too.

As I get older, I don’t want more noise.

I want more wisdom.
More stillness.
More peace.
More purpose.
More moments that remind me why I started.

Because after all these years, one thing I know for sure:

I am called to this.

Maybe not called by everybody.
Maybe not called to everything.

But called by God to serve where He has planted me.

And I’m learning to be at peace with that.

And to all the dedicated Owners, Directors, and Teachers who pour from their hearts every single day:

THANK YOU.

Thank you for showing up.
Thank you for loving somebody else’s babies.
Thank you for the patience nobody sees.
Thank you for the sacrifices nobody knows about.
Thank you for the prayers, the hugs, the teaching, the wiping of tears, and the countless little things you do that may never receive recognition.

Thank you for your heart.

What you do matters.
What you pour into these children matters.
And even on the hard days, please remember:

There is purpose in this work.

Kare Bear Christian Daycare
Where caring for children isn’t just what we do it’s part of who we are.

I want to encourage somebody today who may be wondering if they should compromise what God gave them just to get ahead.

Let me tell you a little bit of my story.

Back in 1995, I was a Marine Corp spouse living at Camp Pendleton, California, when God gave me the name Kare Bear Christian. At that time, I wasn’t living all the way like I knew I should for Christ but God already knew the plans He had for me and for Kare Bear Christian.

That name has been with me for over 30 years now.

In 2005, we moved from California to Alabama, and that transition was HARD. I felt like everything I knew had been stripped away our lifestyle, our friends, our comfort, everything familiar. For about six months, I felt like I was having a breakdown.

But looking back now, I can see something I couldn’t see then:

God was trying to save my life.

Alabama wasn’t a punishment. It was part of the process.

We came to Fort Rucker, eventually moved off post to Ozark, and I began providing childcare from our home, serving both state and military families. And through it all, we carried the same name:

Kare Bear Christian.

Later, when the Lord placed us in our first center in Enterprise, Alabama, the pushback came.

Not because of Kare Bear.

Because of Christian.

I was told that if I dropped “Christian” from the name and just used Kare Bear, more resources and opportunities could come our way.

But I couldn’t do it.

Because my thing has always been this:

If it comes from any source outside of God’s will, I DON’T WANT IT.

I’m not removing Christ from something I believe GOD gave me just so another door might open.

We were called names. We were talked about. Opportunities passed us by. There were times when standing firm cost us something.

But I did not bend.

Because I’d rather have God’s hand on what He’s given me than have every resource in the world without Him.

Then COVID came.

And while the world was going through something none of us could have imagined, God continued opening doors. We stayed faithful. We kept going.

Do we have battle scars? Absolutely!

But who doesn’t get some battle scars when you’re in the Army of the Lord? 🙌🏽

Sometimes you’ve got to dust yourself off and STAND.

And when you’ve done everything you know to do…

KEEP STANDING.

Then the Lord made another shift for us and moved us to Daleville, Alabama. It was another adjustment and another season we had to learn to trust Him through.

But guess what?

GOD STILL HAD US.

He had our front.
He had our back.
He had our sides.
And He STILL does! 🙌🏽

So if you’re reading this and you’re in a season where you don’t understand what God is doing, I want to encourage you:

TRUST THE PROCESS, EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND THE ASSIGNMENT YET.

Don’t compromise what God gave you because somebody tells you there will be more money, more resources, more connections, or more opportunities if you change who God called you to be.

Every open door isn’t necessarily YOUR door.

And every closed door isn’t rejection.

Sometimes God is protecting you.
Sometimes He’s redirecting you.
Sometimes He’s preparing you.
And sometimes He’s simply asking:

“Will you trust Me?”

My answer is YES, LORD.

Because if He did it before, HE CAN AND WILL DO IT AGAIN! 🙌🏽

No person made Kare Bear Christian.

THIS IS ALL GOD.

Every victory.
Every lesson.
Every battle.
Every open door.
Every closed door that protected us.
Every family we’ve been blessed to serve.
Every year He has allowed us to keep going.

GOD DID IT.

So we’re holding fast to His promises. We’re holding fast to His Word. And we’re going to keep trusting Him even when we can’t see what’s coming next.

If you’re struggling today, DON’T GIVE UP.

Hold on.
Stay faithful.
Don’t compromise.
Trust God’s timing.
And remember where He has already brought you from.

If He did it before, He can do it again.

To GOD be ALL the glory! 🙌🏽❤️

Kare Bear Christian the name God gave me, and the name I refused to compromise.

Amen. Have a blessed day, y’all! ❤️🙏🏽

I’ve been reading the conversations surrounding the proposed changes to Head Start, and I want to stay right here for a minute.

This cannot become Head Start vs. childcare.

As the owner of a childcare center, I know firsthand what it takes to provide QUALITY early childhood education. We work our butts off every single day to provide excellence for children and families.

We participate in Alabama Quality STARS and have maintained a 5-STAR rating.

We have educated and credentialed teachers.

We provide meaningful family engagement.

We have worked hard to maintain low staff turnover.

We have educators continuing to advance professionally.

And we do all of this without having the same level of federal funding available to Head Start programs.

We are also blessed to be recipients of Alabama First Class Pre-K and have the opportunity to serve alongside this amazing program.

So when I hear statements suggesting that a program is automatically better simply because it is Head Start or that community childcare programs somehow cannot provide the same level of quality I respectfully disagree.

QUALITY DOES NOT BELONG TO ONE PROGRAM.

A funding stream does not automatically determine quality.

There are phenomenal Head Start programs doing incredible work for children and families. There are also Head Start programs that need improvement.

There are phenomenal childcare centers and there are centers that need improvement.

There are outstanding family childcare providers.

There are excellent military child-development programs.

There are First Class Pre-K classrooms doing amazing work.

And there are teachers who have spent years in Head Start, public schools and other early learning programs who have taken that knowledge and experience into childcare centers and family childcare homes.

Let’s talk about THEM too.

Let’s talk about the teachers across this country who show up every morning and pour everything they have into children.

Some are doing it with significant federal funding.

Some are doing it with state funding.

And some are stretching every tuition dollar, subsidy payment and grant they can find just to give children the high-quality education they deserve.

Does Head Start need an overhaul in some areas? YES.

Does childcare need an overhaul in some areas? YES.

Our entire early childhood system needs attention.

But the answer is not Head Start vs. childcare.

And the answer certainly isn’t, We’re better than you.

We should be asking:

What does QUALITY look like?

Who is actually demonstrating it?

And how do we make sure EVERY child regardless of which early learning program their family chooses has access to it?

If a Head Start program is excellent, CELEBRATE IT.

If a private childcare center is excellent, CELEBRATE IT.

If a First Class Pre-K classroom is excellent, CELEBRATE IT.

If a military child-development program is excellent, CELEBRATE IT.

If a family childcare provider is doing extraordinary work from her home, CELEBRATE HER TOO.

And here’s another conversation we shouldn’t be afraid to have:

If community childcare providers can demonstrate high quality, educated teachers, family engagement, strong accountability and positive outcomes for children, why shouldn’t those programs have greater access to the funding and resources necessary to serve more children?

Imagine what high quality community childcare programs could accomplish with equitable investment.

At the end of the day, children don’t care what funding stream paid for their classroom.

They need a safe environment.
They need qualified, loving teachers.
They need developmentally appropriate learning.
They need healthy meals and opportunities to move and play.
They need families who are welcomed and engaged.
They need consistency.
They need teachers who stay.
And they need adults who put CHILDREN before programs and politics.

So let’s stop asking:

“Who is better?”

And start asking:

“How do we make ALL of early childhood better?”

Because whether the sign on the building says Head Start, childcare, First Class Pre-K, military child development, or family childcare

WE ARE ALL HERE FOR THE CHILDREN.

Different programs. Different funding. Different structures.

Same mission.

THE CHILDREN. ❤️💯

Every Star Deserves a Red Carpet Welcome!

At Kare Bear Christian Daycare, we don’t just start a school year!

❤️ We celebrate every child.

Yesterday, our newest and returning Future Stars made their grand entrance by walking the red carpet, where they were welcomed with cheers, smiles, and lots of love because every child deserves to feel special from the very first moment.

As they reached the end of the red carpet, each child received:

A “You Make a Difference” Medal
Their very own Future Star Certificate

Why?

Because before they learn their letters…
Before they learn their numbers…
Before they make new friends…

We want them to know something even more important:

✨ You are loved.
✨ You are valued.
✨ You were created by God for a purpose.
✨ You already make a difference.

Our red carpet isn’t about being famous…

It’s about reminding every child that they are Heaven’s VIP’s fearfully and wonderfully made, uniquely gifted, and worthy of love, encouragement, and celebration.

Every smile, every high five, every medal, and every certificate was our way of saying:

“Welcome to your next adventure. We believe in you.”

Thank you to our amazing Kare Bear families for allowing us to love, teach, encourage, and help your children grow in faith, confidence, and character.

This is just the beginning of an incredible school year, and we can’t wait to watch our Future Stars shine!

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

❤️ Welcome to the Kare Bear family…
