Student teacher, Alisha Kline from UNG created a wonderful and engaging Remembering 911 lesson using primary sources from September 12th 2001. Students analyzed the front page story, sports, advertisements and more to understand how the nation felt just one day after the event.

ELE/SPED Juniors in Dahlonega igniting connections on our first day of Classroom Management classes! 🌟 They were sparking meaningful relationships through a powerful getting-to-know-you activity called Us By the Numbers, where they shared numerical facts about themselves and formed unbreakable bonds with like-minded individuals. By the end of the activity, we witnessed a web of connections, fostering a sense of community and belonging! 💕

The first event of the Year of France program is an education lecture on Tuesday, September 15th from 5-6 p.m., in Cottrell Center Building, Room 272 – Teaching in a Secular Republic: Religion and Education in France.

UNG students, faculty, staff, and community members are all welcome to attend.

Dr. Evie Munier will provide an overview of the French education system, focusing on the role of laïcité (secularism) and the separation of religion from public school life. The presentation will examine how French law regulates the display of conspicuous religious symbols in schools, with particular attention to recent legal decisions that have shaped the application of laïcité in education. The event will conclude with an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and community members to ask questions and engage in discussion.
