Lumpkin County School System serves over 3,800 students in Dahlonega, GA. Our mission is to educate and empower life-long learners, leading them to academic and personal success. Through highly qualified faculty, engaging technology, inviting environments, deep enrichment experiences, and strong partnerships between families, community, and the schools, LCSS is providing an education that will enable each of our students to become successful, happy adults who contribute to their community.

At the August 2026 Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Sharon Head and the Lumpkin County Board of Education had the privilege of recognizing students, educators, school leaders, and community partners whose accomplishments make us ! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›

โญ Wylder Flakes, LCHS 11th grader, selected by the Georgia School Boards Association to represent Lumpkin County on the GSBA Youth Advisory Council

โญ Camp Frank D. Merrill 5th Ranger Training Battalion and Sarah West, recognized as our August 2026 Partner in Education & Ideal Indian

โญ Dana Welch of Blackburn Elementary School, recognized by the Georgia Department of Education as an Exemplary ESOL Teacher

โญ Lumpkin County High School, recognized as an AP Expansion School, AP STEM School, and AP STEM Achievement School, with Principal Brian Matthews accepting the honors
