Tired of squirrels digging up your garden? Us too!

Here's a trick that works: ONIONS! πŸ§…

Spread the greens from onions, leeks, or chives around your garden. Squirrels don't like the strong smell and will leave your plants alone.

Cheap, easy, and effective!

Time to debunk another fake !

Plenty of these hacks include fake recipes, like the one in this video, intentionally giving out the wrong information to get viewers to engage with the content.

Make sure you research any home recipes you find before trying them. Check your recipes for ingredients like vinegar which will kill your plants.

Reminder that this is happening THIS Saturday at the Just Food Community Farm near Blackburn Hamlet, 10am-1pm!

We will also have our annual seedling/seed exchange table (and Ottawa Food Forest Exchange will have their own exchange table, too - head to their group for details)

If you have gardening tools or large containers that you're not using - please drop them off to our tool/container drive! We will find good homes for them.
*Looking for containers that would be large enough to grow food in, not seedling pots - thanks!*

You'll find lots of great seedling vendors, enjoy local food from The Sheepdog Grill, check out an art show, learn from gardening experts, take part in kids' activities and listen to live music!!

Looking forward to seeing you all there!!

*Free parking, accessible by bus route #25
*Accessible washrooms on site in the big red barn

The plants were feeling cooped up and needed a walk.
Just a short trip out today, might go a little longer tomorrow. πŸ˜„

Showcasing some of the plants we've started this year! Still more to come and plenty of room in the garden for anyone interested in getting their hands dirty, both figuratively speaking and literally!
