A huge shoutout to Mrs. Kimberly Bussey for leading an incredibly well-attended and highly engaging session at GCPS Summer Leadership Conference.
The Session was titled: “Focus Forward: Connecting Middle School Students to Pathways for the Future.”
This session was a powerful reminder that preparing students for their future doesn’t begin in high school. It begins in middle school. Mrs. Bussey’s vision highlighted the importance of intentionally designing Connections programs that expose students to career pathways, develop future-ready skills, and help students see the connection between what they learn today and who they can become tomorrow.
What stands out most is that she is a principal who genuinely cares about the future of her students—even after they leave her building. Her commitment to ensuring students are positioned for success in high school, college, careers, and beyond is inspiring and exactly the kind of leadership our students deserve.
Special recognition to the outstanding presenters who joined her:
✨ Chenita Mumpfield – Business Teacher
✨ Kizzy Parker – Marketing Teacher
And a very special shoutout to the student panelists who represented Dacula Middle School so well:
💙 Laurina L.
💙 Christa N.
💙 Zaide O.
Thank you all for showcasing the incredible work happening at Dacula Middle School and for demonstrating how purposeful pathway exploration can begin long before students enter high school. Your passion, expertise, and student-centered focus made for an impactful session that left attendees with practical ideas and inspiration to take back to their own schools.

Mrs. Bussey was honored at the Community Impact Awards hosted by the Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and we are so proud of the impact she continues to make throughout our community!
Not only has she made a tremendous impact on students, but also on staff members and educational leaders across Gwinnett County. Her passion for student success is evident in everything she does.
And while we’re bragging on her, Mrs. Bussey will also be presenting this summer on her strong commitment to properly preparing students to be college and career ready — something she takes very seriously! Under her leadership, she has made it a priority to increase opportunities for students to take CTAE and Carnegie courses during middle school, helping expose students to rigorous and meaningful pathways early on.
While you have charged us with owning the mission, never settling, and engaging with intention, we are grateful that you are doing the same within our DMS walls and beyond.
We are incredibly proud of you, Mrs. Bussey! 💙💛
