We’re excited to welcome Bill to the team!

Bill is an absolute beast on guitar — a Berklee College of Music grad who’s toured with legends like Kirk Whalum, Dianne Reeves, and more. While he can play just about any style, jazz is what excites him the most.

As a teacher, Bill meets students right where they’re at and builds a custom plan for them — balancing what they want to learn with what they need to learn.

Help us give him a big Talent House welcome!

4 Music Mistakes Killing Your Progress:

After teaching thousands of students in Cypress, TX, over the last 12 years, we've seen the same mistakes over and over, and they wreck beginners' progress.

Let's fix those today:

1. Not Being Consistent

Practice music like brushing your teeth.

You wouldn't skip brushing all week and then do it for three hours to "catch up," would you?

Same with music—30 min every day is better than cramming a few hours into one day.

2. Playing What You Know

We all have our "go-to" songs that sound good.

But the real progress happens when you work on stuff you're NOT good at.

Spend way less time playing things you can already play, and way more time working on the things you CAN'T play.

That is where the real growth happens.

3. Not Working on Technique

Whether it's finger exercises, scales, or patterns, you need to spend a lot of time working on technique.

It's your foundation, and it'll make everything else you learn easier.

Spend the first half of every practice on technique, and you'll be blown away by your progress.

4. Not Using a Metronome

Timing is arguably the most important part of music—even more important than the notes.

And if you're not practicing with a metronome, your timing will suffer.

I get it—they sound annoying and throw you off.

But the more you play with one, the better your timing will be when you're NOT playing with one.

Fix these mistakes today and watch your progress soar.

99% of beginner musicians aren't seeing growth because they don't understand HOW to practice. Here are the 8 things that have helped me the most.

Big welcome to Eric, our newest drum teacher at The Talent House!

He’s a Berklee grad with a heart for teaching and tons of experience behind the kit.

Excited to have him on the team!

I used to feel completely stuck in my playing, but after I changed this one thing, I started to see real growth.

Here’s the shift that made all the difference ↓

Imagine you were trying to learn a new language.

But every day for 30 days straight, you only practiced how to say “I love you.”

Well, you’d get really good at saying I love you, but you wouldn’t be able to form a sentence or have an actual conversation.

This is exactly what most musicians do.

They play the same riffs.

The same songs.

Over and over.

But… they’re not learning anything new.

There’s no growth.

Progress doesn’t come from repeating what is easy.

It comes from pushing yourself and working on things you suck at.

Working on things you CAN’T do.

If you feel stuck in your playing, you’re probably not practicing.

You’re just jamming.

And there’s nothing wrong with jamming!

But you need to find a balance.

So today—Leave your comfort zone.

Stop playing things you know.

Pick something you suck at.

And spend some time there.

That’s where the real growth happens.
