So proud of our Symphonic Winds!! 🎶

Today they took the stage at UIL Concert & Sight Reading and brought home straight 1s from all six judges—an incredible accomplishment! All that hard work, focus, and commitment truly paid off, and it showed in every note.

🎺 Concert Winds performed at the Region 27 UIL Concert & Sight Reading Evaluation on Thursday, earning a Division II (Excellent) on stage and straight Division I ratings (Superior) in sight reading—performing brand new music at an impressively high level!

🥁 Symphonic Band took the stage Friday and earned straight Division I ratings in both concert and sight reading, resulting in a well-deserved Sweepstakes! They sounded amazing from start to finish.

🎼 Today, our Symphonic Winds gave a fantastic Pre-UIL performance at Cypress Creek. While no ratings were given, their growth and musicianship were on full display—we couldn’t be more proud of their hard work.

Every student in the Goodson Band puts in the time and effort, and it’s so rewarding to see that dedication shine in moments like these. Huge congratulations to all of our performing band students—we are so proud of you! 💙🐻

This past weekend our Symphonic Band and Concert Winds took the stage at our Pre-UIL evaluation! We are incredibly proud of how these students performed and the hard work they’ve put into preparing their music. We also received some great feedback from the judges that will help us continue improving before our official UIL evaluation in a few weeks.

Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to grab a fancy group photo of Symphonic Band—they escaped before I could get my camera ready! But we’re proud of both groups and the effort they’ve put in all semester.

Heading into Spring Break, our band students should feel proud—they’ve worked hard and the finish line is in sight. Bravo, band! 👏🎶

Operation Lock-In: COMPLETE. ✅🎉

What a night! Games were played, laser tag champions were crowned, Mr. Hernandez absolutely schooled some students at pool, and eventually… much-needed sleep was had. (Mine still hasn’t fully recovered 24 hours later, but totally worth it!)

We had an absolute blast with our students and hope they had just as much fun as we did. Nights like this are what make this job so much fun.

Over 150 students represented our program, performing as soloists, in ensembles, or—because they love a challenge—both!

Their dedication and hard work truly shined with 155 First Division medals and 4 Second Division ribbons earned.

Thank you to our students for your commitment, and to our parents for your continued support of these young musicians. Bravo to all! 👏

This year, 38 students earned a spot—the most in our school’s history! These students competed against over 1000 others to earn their position. Their hard work, dedication, and musicianship were truly on display, and it was such a joy to watch them shine on stage.

We’re so proud of our students’ amazing accomplishments at Region Band Phase 1 — 46 students advanced to Phase 2, the most in school history! 🥳👏 Phase 2 auditions will be held on November 7th, and we can’t wait to cheer them on!

We’re also beaming with pride after our Fall Concert last Monday. Our students gave such heartfelt and musical performances — it was a beautiful night of music and community. ❤️

Back at it with our favorite people — BAND CAMP is in full swing! 🎶🎳🎮

We’ve been having a blast getting back into the groove with our amazing students. Between rehearsals and sectionals, we snuck in some well-earned fun at the arcade and bowling alley. (Yes, we’re playing our instruments too — promise!) 😄

Here’s to kicking off the year with great music, stronger friendships, and a whole lot of laughs! 🐻🎼

From the first note in August to the last box unloaded at Farney Elementary today, this year has been packed with growth, grit, and plenty of good music. To our students, families, and fellow staff—THANK YOU for being the heartbeat of this band program. Your support, energy, and commitment make all the difference.

And a special shoutout to our mighty crew of 8th graders who helped haul, lift, and sweat their way through Summer Band Camp prep—you’re the real MVPs. Who knew band kids came with built-in moving services?

Now it’s time to rest, recharge, and maybe even clean out those instrument cases (you know who you are). 😉
