Meet Eva!!
Eva is a 17 year old girl from Italy who will spend the spring semester in the US. Rush right over and take a look at her application! I think you'll love her!
Here is her student letter:
Dear Host Family,
I can’t believe I’m writing this letter! Just three months ago I was dreaming about my semester abroad, and now everything is becoming real! My dream is finally coming true!
My name is Eva: it has Hebraic origins and it means “she who gives life”. So I hope to do it with you during the six months there!
Basically, my character is an oxymoron: I’m shy but also outgoing, I like staying alone but also staying with friends, I’m lazy but also active… I don’t know how I am!
However, I will try to describe myself: I’m very responsible and everybody can count on me.
I’m very determined and ambitious, so I never give up: that’s why I’ve never had doubt about this experience.
I’m quiet and serious, but also friendly, and I’m really calm and obedient.
I’m a sixteen year old girl who lives on a small island in central Italy, famous for pizza and pasta.
I like living here in the summer because I always go to the beach with my friends and we have a lot of fun; in the winter it is quite boring because there is literally nothing (no shops open or activities to do). Also my school is far from my town.
I attend the third class of Scientific High School in a town 30 minutes far from mine, so I take the bus every morning at 7 a.m.
I like my school a lot and my favorite subjects are Math and Art (it’s like technical drawing).
At the moment I don’t do any sport because of the Covid: two years ago I did dance (Hip Hop Dance) and before that I did sailing! One thing that never ended is my passion for photography: my parents gave me a camera at Christmas 3 years ago and I’ve never stopped using it during my travels.
I’ve never attended a photography course but I would love to.
I love spending time alone and dedicating it to myself, reading books or listening to music but I prefer to spend my time with my friends doing so many things together.
My biggest passion is traveling: my parents gave me the passion to take the plane and explore new places since I was a child; we go for a trip usually twice a year so I visited a lot of cities and country like London, Amsterdam, Barcelona and in last 5 years we traveled with our family friends.
In my future I’d like to do a job that allows me to visit all the world because I think that we are born in a wonderful place so we HAVE TO explore everything.
As a good Italian, I love cooking: I usually cook cakes or pasta with different sauces.
I can’t wait to cook Italian dishes for you and to take a piece of my home, of my Italy, in your house.
I can’t wait to learn all about your culture: I know I will be very richer thanks to you and to everyone I’ll meet there.
I think I can be a good friend and a good daughter, helping you whenever you need a hand, and hoping you’ll do the same with me!
I wish I’ll feel part of your family and you’ll be proud of me as a daughter, as I would like that this experience won’t be just great for me, but also for you!
