🍂 Add to your calendars: Growing Roots Fall/Winter Outdoor Gear Swap on Thu, Aug 27! 🧤🥾

As our kids head into another season of outdoor play, we’re helping Growing Roots families pass along the gear they’ve outgrown and find what they need for fall and winter.

DROP OFF DONATIONS: Wednesday, August 19 – Wednesday, August 26. Our outdoor drop box is available 24/7 by the western door of the church.

Have gear to donate? We’re looking for gently used fall/winter gear and outdoor gear for babies and young children, including:

* Coats, jackets, snow pants, snow bibs & snowsuits
* Winter gear
* Snow boots & outdoor shoes
* Waterproof or insulated mittens
* Hats & neck warmers
* Fleece and other warm outdoor layers
* Backpacks, water bottles & lunch bags

Does a Montessori-inspired classroom prepare children for traditional kindergarten?

Absolutely. ❤️ Just through a different route.

In a Montessori-inspired classroom, children are building the same foundational skills they’ll need for kindergarten—but through hands-on, meaningful experiences that are developmentally appropriate and designed to foster a love of learning.

Our 3–6 year olds are working on things like:

✏️ Writing and letter formation
🔤 Phonics, spelling, and language development
🔢 Counting, number recognition, and early math
🧩 Problem-solving and critical thinking
📚 Early reading skills
👐 Fine motor skills and practical life skills
👂 Following directions, concentrating, and working independently
🤝 Grace, courtesy, and social-emotional development

The difference is that we aren’t rushing children through a checklist of academic skills. Instead, we meet children where they are and give them the tools, materials, and freedom to practice, explore, repeat, and master skills at their own pace.

And perhaps most importantly, we want children to leave our classroom thinking:

“I love learning. I can do hard things. I want to know more.”

That foundation serves children well—whether their next step is a traditional kindergarten classroom or another educational path.

Montessori-inspired education isn’t about doing less. It’s about giving children a different, more hands-on path to getting there. 🌱

Looking for a preschool where your child can learn through hands-on experiences, explore the outdoors, and grow in independence and confidence?

Growing Roots serves children ages 2.5–6 who are potty trained, with a balance of Montessori-inspired classroom work and outdoor exploration. Our days give children opportunities to follow their curiosity, practice new skills, move their bodies, and learn through doing.

🌿 Brave enough to try, supported when they need it.

Our rope climbing web has become a favorite place for our students to challenge themselves, take healthy risks, and discover what they’re capable of.

And while we want children to have the freedom to navigate challenges independently, they don’t have to do it alone.

Our teachers are right there alongside them—offering encouragement, helping them think through a tricky spot, or simply being a reassuring presence when they need a little extra confidence.

Sometimes a child needs a hand. Sometimes they just need to hear, “You’ve got this.” And sometimes they’re ready to figure it out completely on their own.

That balance—freedom to explore with a trusted adult nearby for support—helps children build confidence, resilience, independence, and trust in their own abilities.

At Growing Roots, we’re here to support them as they climb a little higher, try something new, and discover just how capable they are. 💚🌱
